Weather Envoy with USB data logger
« on: January 23, 2022, 04:52:13 PM »
Hi,

I purchased my "Weather Envoy - 6316" well over 10 years ago and use it to connect to a PC with weatherlink type software.

That PC is dying and I was wondering, with the "Envoy" do I have any options, other than a PC, to get the Davis VP2 data uploaded to the web (weather underground, etc.)?

Any help is appreciated.

George

I've never used WiFiLogger before but replacing the USB data logger installed in the envoy with one of those might do what you're after.

WeatherLinkIP would be a replacement, that is if you can find one (secondhand or new) as they are no longer produced. No PC required to upload but typically requires a PC to configure etc

Meteobridge NanoSD can also upload to just about any service, again does require a PC to initially configure/setup etc

You can connect an Envoy/USB data logger combo to a raspberry pi running WeeWX.

I am wondering if I should just replace my Envoy/PC combo with the Weatherlink live.

Wouldn't the WeatherLink Live product replace the need for a PC?

Yep, a WLL would definitely work. However, check out the weatherlink.com plans and make sure that either the free plan does what you want or that you're okay paying for the upgraded plan.

I use WeeWX because the weatherlink.com free plan does not do what I want and I don't want another monthly subscription even if it is cheap.
