Override GW1000 Indoor Sensor
« on: January 19, 2022, 06:25:08 PM »
I have had to shift my GW1000 to an out building to pick up all of my sensors.  As such, I have lost the proper indoor reading.  I have already seen that a WH32B will not work with a GW1000 (https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0), so I was curious if there is any other way/sensor to override the indoor temperature reading.

TIA,
Jonathan Z

You could use a combination of a WH31 (multi-channel extra temperature/humidity sensor) and the FOSHKplugin and remap the WH31 reading to you indoor T/H. However, for the FOSHKplugin you'll need a computer running 24/7 (could be a Raspberry Pi or also a Windows  10 or 11 PC [where you could run FOSHKplugin in the WSL environment: Windows subsystem for Linux]).
You could display these values via the Android Personal Weather Station app - having the GW1000 post its readings to FOSHKplugin and FOSHKplugin doing the remapping and forward it to the app/tablet.
When you use application software like Meteobridge or weewx, you can also do a remapping. The WH31 will also be needed here.

Others have found that extending the antenna out of the case improves the rf reception ( don't remember the exact post, this shows the antenna, the red wire on the left https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=36912.msg379624#msg379624 ).
You may give it a try.

Thanks to you both.  I'll likely try extending the antenna out of the case initially.  If that doesn't work, I will do some remapping in Weewx.
