Is it possible to calibrate the WS 90 rainfall on a 2551 console?
I can't seem to find it....
It skips the rainfall calibration in the calibration menu
Updated the firmware of the console to 1.8 in order to get the WS90 available on the console

As opposed to the console, and I not going  to do all the research. Have you tried from WS View plus (+)  to see if you can under "rain totals"

this possibility is announced by Ecowitt to be implemented in the next device firmware update (> 1.8.0).
@Rover1822 - the WS90 calibration can so far only be done via WSView Plus for the GW1000/WH2650/GW1100 and GW2000 consoles - NOT for the HP2551 console !
Here you can only configure the WiFi-Firmware (Weather Networks + custom server) via WS View Plus.

I have done so, I use the gateway for uploads with the calibration settings
I want the displayed rainfall to be the same as the GW2000

Yesterday's strong wind in the view of WS 90 / WS80, WS 68 and Barani Wind. After the last WS80 update, the wind gusts reported on wundeground and ecowitt are different from each other. Previously, the maximum gust on any given day was the same with the WS80.

Max gust yestarday

Barani Wind, 41,4 km/h
WS68, 42,2 km/h.
WS80, 48,3 km/h
WS90, 48,2 km/h

Is anyone having issues with false random rain readings on the WS90?  I have (2) Wittboys setup with one showing .01 in. or more rain rate readings on some days with no rain.  When this happens a few times during the day or night, it will also show rain accumulation.  The times don't match up with possible dew points either, so I'm not sure what's causing it.  The unit that is showing the rain is mounted on a pole approximately 12 ft above my roof, about 30 ft above ground overall.  The other unit is about 6 ft above ground level.  I was thinking it could be vibrations from the wind etc., but it's happening when the wind is low and not corrolating to times with high wind.  I also have the bird spikes mounted, so I don't believe birds are the problem either. Is anyone else seeing this?

I have the same issue when the humidity gets high. Still running v1.0.9 firmware on WS90.

What do you consider high humidity? I looked at the spikes in the graph I posted above and they coincided with 70% and 74% humidity.  My WS90 is on 1.17.

Had 2 times a 0.1mm reading with no apparent rain
Both times in the morning between 7 and 8 am
I think it has to do with dew
Maybe drops from the birdspikes are rolling down
Anyone without birdspikes having these false readings?
Also with my Davis sometimes a reading because of dew drops

I'm running version 117

Edit:
This morning, despite the bird spikes, a small bird (blue tit) was sitting on top of my WS90!
In search for insects, birds maybe the cause of my false readings.....

My upload to WU with the GW2000 seems to give random spikes in Pressure, UB and Solar readings
Sometimes when it's dark even solar readings
Today spikes in barometric pressure

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

On app and on ecowitt.net no spikes only on WU

I have been getting the same pressure, temp, UV, and solar spikes on mine as I mentioned in another topic.  https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=43900. I think the problem is on WU's server side as Gyvate mentioned in that thread.  I created a new station on WU, and fed the WS90 to WU from my GW2000.  I also used my GW1000 to feed that same station to my old WU site.  After 1 day, I have multiple spikes in pressure, temp, UV, solar etc. showing in my old WU station, and none in the new WU station using the exact same data.  I also found an FAQ on Ambient's site that mentions this is a known bug on WU's site.  https://ambientweather.com/faqs/question/view/id/2108/.

wsNoordbergum: Just out of curiosity, is this an old WU station/site that you changed over to the GW2000 feeding the Wittboy, or did you create a new WU station?  If it is old, do the spikes show up on your older data in the graphs before the Wittboy was put into service?

Neither of these explain the piezo rain spikes which are showing up on my Ecowitt site as well, and seem to be an issue with the unit itself.  I did look back on my second Wittboy which I didn't think had the problem, and found out it is also showing the random rain issue with no rain happening as well. That unit hasn't had as many false spikes.  For the month of May I'm showing .07 inches accumulated for my ground level Wittboy, and .13 inches for the roof mounted Wittboy.  My WH40 and manual Stratus guage accumulated 0 inches for the month of May.

I created a new station
The old one is fed by my meteobridge and no problems there
If it's indeed a WU bug, then so be it
My first station is still my primary
If the Wittboy can live up against my expectations then I'm tempted to sell my Davis and use the Wittboy and Ecowitt sensors instead

My WittBoy is reporting data but not from the correct instrument. Has anyone seen this or do you know how to diagnose:
  • The wifi base station has a MAC ending in E7 and the web interface reports the same, however, my router and arp tables report it as ending E4
  • The unit looks like it is working, reporting values every 1 minute, the values match other weather stations in my area: 80F, 400watts/m^2, 6MPH wind speeds.  Even though the unit has been in my freezer for 4 hours.  How would it be possible that the app and the live data on my local LAN match but they are no were near the conditions in my cold, dark, windless freezer.
The weather station is marked with ID: 002A1C. If that is a serial number is there a way to verify the ID of the device my data is supposedly coming from?

Also I just received the unit yesterday, is there a way to tell what the current firmware is?

On the sensor ID page in your GW2000 you can view the ID of your devices
Use the ws view plus app for easy viewing or log into your GW2000 using the IP adress in your browser
Question 1: I had same thing router said MAC ending with E8
Which in fact was 08
But that does not matter, my GW 2000 works just fine
Firmware will probably be 1.17
There is a topic about retrieving firmware version on this forum

Hi!

Quote
How can I tell what firmware my Wittboy is on.
The existing firmware version can be checked via EAR (provided the GW2000 firmware is v2.1.4). An update is then suggested there if necessary.

Does any of you have a problem with reception on the 868 mz band from ws90. In 99% of the cases it gets data from wittboy to gw2000. The distance from the station to the gate is 30-40m. I have a 4/5 and 5/5 signal. time suddenly the gate loses its signal from the wittboy. Does anyone have an idea. The signal fluctuates randomly. someone uses an amplifier or booster at 868mhz. But I wonder if it's not the problem itself with the gateway that communicates with the WS90.

the symptoms indicate the GW2000 sometimes not receiving (resp. processing) the data from the WS90 as the internally recorded data is there (T/H/P indoors)
difficult to tell - four possible scenarios:
1. the WS90 has an issue
2. the GW2000 has an issue
3. both the WS90 and the GW2000 have an issue
4. some EMI (electromagnetic interference) in the 868 MHz band
(remote controls for cars, for garage doors and many other things send at this public frequency)
probably needs some more and longer observation ....
so far it occurs during daytime only as far as I could see - could be a hint for some external "disturbers"

By the way - mine (WS90) works without issues for almost 1/2 year now

The problem sometimes happened in the middle of the night. It lasted a few minutes, sometimes an hour, and suddenly the WS90 came back with a signal. I suggested Ecowitt that they increase the transmit power or allow it to be adjusted. They did not agree to the increase in power, but they should give the possibility of increasing the transmission power to the user to a certain level. Very often it happened that there was no problem overnight, and then suddenly Wittboy lost contact with the GW2000 goal and regained it in a moment. After checking the sensor id it turned out that the gate stopped seeing the wittboy.

Do you have a GW1100 or a GW1000 or a WH2650 (Firmware 1.7.3 !) ?
You could connect the WS90 also to them and see if the phenomenon is the same.
Your assumption that the WS90 is the culprit is not conclusive and forcing from the symptoms.
You need a second, independent console in order to establish that.
However, if any of the GW1x00 consoles showed the same symptom, then the WS90 might be defective
(still EMI might be an issue).
