Saving and analysing data from a Froggitt WH3000SE
« on: December 08, 2020, 03:58:08 PM »
Hi,
I’m new to this weather station stuff.
I have a WH3000SE which seems to do a great job of giving me data from today.
How can I save the data so that I can analyse past data?
I’m sure I’m not the first person to ask this but I can’t seem to pull up an answer.

Thanks in advance.

You can upload the data to some WeatherNetworks such as WeatherUnderground and use their dashboards to study the data.
WeatherUnderground shows your data in  tables and graphs.

After you played with data from a few different stations and WeatherNetworks, you probably know better what you want.

Thanks, Wim.

I send my data to Weather Underground and can see the graphs and tables.
Is there a way to download info from there back to a pc for further analysis?

I am not familiar with the Froggit stations but if that station can work with Froggit Wetterstationen und Satfinder - DP1500 Wi-Fi Weather Server USB Dongle then it can connect to programs such as CumulusMX Cumulus Wiki and then endless what you can do with the data.

Enjoy,
Paul

Thanks for the help.
Via links provided in your answer I realised that I can get what I want from Ecowitt.
Just needed a nudge in the right direction!

It is probably quicker and cheaper to get the DP1500 from Froggit in your case I would guess. If you currently have a Froggit then that would likely indicate to me that you are in the EU (or UK). The Froggit DP1500 is the same thing as an Ecowitt GW1000. Software like Cumulus MX, Meteobridge, Weather-Display, and WeeWX will not think any different of it and treat it just the same as a GW1000. The DP1500 even uploads to Ecowitt.net and runs the same firmware.

Edit: I see your location says Somerset...so UK ...yep as excepted.

All,
Just for info, this is exactly what I’ve got.....

https://durhamweather.co.uk/product/froggit-wh3000-se-2018-review-profi-radio-weather-statio-wifi-internet-weather-station-color-display-wunderground/

So it has Wi-fi capability and there are options to upload data to wunderground, Ecowitt, the MetOffice WoW site, and custom websites.
I’m assuming my kit already includes the functionality of the DP1500.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I can get the data I want in a download from Ecowitt.

. . .

YES -> for uploading your data the functionality is the same

No -> to communicate with weather-programs such as MeteoBridge, WeatherDisplay ,  Weewx
The DP1500 (= Ecowitt GW1000) has an extra API / "mode".
It broadcasts the received data via WiFi and those weather-programs understand what the DP1500 is talking about. They process the data and can use that data to calculate high-lows and tons of extra things.

For another solution without a weather-program and without an extra DP1500 you can use the scripts I maintain.
You console should do a custom upload to your own website and use the PWS_Dashboard template on that website. That will combine the realtime data from your "wh3000" with your historical-data at WU. Demo of such a site: https://pws.sluispark.be/index.php

AND as an extra, the dashboard already has scripts to download the WU-data  of any period you want in .csv format to your PC/Mac if you want to use that data f.i.  in MS-Excel.

Your WU-data is copied 24/7 to your website by the PWS_dashboard scripts. One can update the data when there is an error in a measurement.   Browsing  your WU-data and download it in .csv is in the menu: https://pws.sluispark.be/index.php?frame=History_at_WU

More information about this free website template: https://pwsdashboard.com/
The only thing you need to start using the PWS_Dashboard is your own "small" website.

Wim

P.S. Another script I developed to use your WU-data: https://pws.sluispark.be/index.php?frame=Reports_at_WU

This is taking me into whole new areas! 😀

I’m going to set up a website on my Synology NAS and see if I can get your scripts working on that.
Should be fun!

Thanks for all this. 👍

Wim,
I’ve got the website set up and can get to it externally. That’s taken a while having never done it before!

Now I just need a pointer on the best way to tie the weather station and the website together for live data.
If I put a feed to a custom website on the Froggitt what do I need to put in there that corresponds to the set up in the website?

Apologies for the newbie questions.

UPDATE..... I’ve got the data from WUnderground. Seems to be working fine.

Thanks for testing the PWS_Dashboard.  There is a separate area to post questions and remarks on the weather-watch forum: https://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/board,77.0.html
If possible, I try to get all questions about the Dashboard in those topics answered as quickly as possible every morning.

=== WU versus Ecowitt direct upload
WU supports less weather-values compared to the Ecowitt direct upload.
F.i. inside temperature is not available from WU.
Extra sensors you may be installing in the future are also not supported by WU.

So best way to go is to use the "Ecowitt custom upload".

The "HowTo" for Ecowitt  https://pwsdashboard.com/documentation2012/41_ecowitt.pdf

Succes in customising your site,

Wim
