2 weather radio freq. with hum
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:24:06 AM »
WNG 572 in Good Hart and WNG 762 in Wolf Lake both in western lower MI have same hum in transmitter. I've talk to the people at the Gaylord office about the transmitter in Good Hart. The problem has been there every since the transmitter was on the air as of Oct. of '07. I want to stream WNG 572 but do not want to until hum is taken care of. Anyone know where to turn to get this issue taken care of.

Thanks,
Tim

Hello Tim,

What you might be experiencing is a ground issue between the radio and the PC. Why this might have changed, I am not sure.

You can eliminate this possibility by adding a tiny audio transformer.

I don't think anyone is going to care about a little hum as long as the audio is clear. If this was as issue for the  NWS they would have fixed it by now.

Is the hum you are reffering to in the NWS broadcast? What are you listening to the broadcast on, a weather radio? If you the hum is in the NWS transmitter. There is nothing you can do to get rid of it. You simply have to live with it if you are going to listen to the broadcast.

Thanks,
Anthony

I don't understand why they don't fix it.

That's simple enough. Funding. The transmitters do the job they are intended to do, so why spend money to fix what really isn't broken (per sey).

That and 40 year old, new old stock transmitter parts can be hard to come by.   ;)

Funny how the Gov. can spend $4,323.00 on a rain gauge and $600.00 on a toilet seat. =D>

Guess it just depends on where your priorities are. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Too bad it was not until after they bought the toilet seat they realized what they really needed was a grassy pasture.   :-s
