Blizzard Watch
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:08:06 PM »
We are currently under a blizzard watch here in Central Iowa.  Just another in the endless line of storms for this winter.  Before the blizzard comes we have the possibility of seeing .25 to .3 inches of ice.  Oh joy - maybe my trees that didn't get trimmed from the ice storm in early December will be trimmed this time.   ](*,)

I luck out again.  Like most this winter the models are shifting most of the significant wx just to the South and East of me.  Will be on the Western edge of the precipitation field with only 4" to 10" snow out of this one.  Lots of wind with some lake effect tomorrow but shouldn't get too out of hand.  This will be a heavy wet snow though.  I hope a lot of you folks further South have a woodstove that doesn't need power to run because I would expect some significant outages from this system.

Well this particular storm is winding down (at least in my area).  Our blizzard watch was upgraded early this morning to a blizzard warning and it was a blizzard as the snow was coming down.  I could only see about 2 blocks down my street.  The snow has ended and the warning has been cancelled, but its still windy.  I only ended up with 2 inches of snow and no ice to speak of.  The precipitation went directly from rain to snow around 6AM.

If this winter holds true I'll see a break for 3 or 4 days before the next one!  Spring can't come soon enough this year.
