3-30/3-31 central Florida.

I awoke this morning to a loud crack, after gathering my senses, i realized the tree in my back yard had been hit by lightning and a limb is laying on the ground. Radar looks naaaaasty!  Its only 65° now, i can just imagine what these storms would be like if they rolled through 4 hours or so for now when it was 85° or so.

On my first cup of coffee, after it stops raining ill take a few pics of the tree and post and i have some cool radar images of what i believe is a supercell moving across florida :D

Here is a cap of a storm i was watching this morning with GR3. It was really intense, i think it triggered 4 different tornado warnings before it moved into some rain-cooled air and finally fizzled out, At one point it was reading 3" hail, with 55k tops.

Heres another screen, notice its the SAME place as the first cap, but this is a completely different storm. VIL not as impressive, but still triggering spinners.

   I see on my GRL3 that there was a funnel cloud at Kennedy Space Center near launch pad 39A.

Believe it or not im watching that right now on the news, some places have had 7" of rain since midnight, good day to be a duck!


Im watching this storm now because its going to move across my area soon, i bet its going to bow from all the rain cooled air behind it.

theres a confirmed tornado on the ground right now, spotters saying f-2 maybe f-3 near Polk City, Fl.  I circled it on GR3.

   The SRV1 looks very interesting in that area. Now showing two mesocyclone icons.  Keep safe!!!

   There has been a storm report of a hangar collapse with people inside, and planes flipped over, at Lakeland Linder Airport.  Quite a few reports comming in.

Here is a radar shot of the storm that is maching thru florida right now. I like the program GR3 I was using I will be buying it for sure. Here is shot from F5 Data too.

I had to work in this crap all day. :-x
Why can't this happen when I'm off work. Wife was home and said things were pretty nasty. Unfortunately after 6 years my anny took a dump this week so I have no wind gust data. Grrr.
Oh well, parts are on the way.

I wanted to get some stuff planted in the garden, but it's too wet.  The grass is really growing, but it's too wet to mow.  I'd rather it rain during my workdays so I could have nice weather while I'm off.

There was severe weather around Tampa a little while ago.  It was moving east.  I hope y'all are all right down there!  (I don't suppose many of the houses down there have basements, do they?)

Lightning was so bad i had to unplug everything for a few hours. I cant afford new computers right now so i take no chances  :???:

Looks like its easing up now, a cell just moved through like 5 mins ago, but they are moving so fast (60 mph +/-) the little ones are gone before you know it.

A few facts so far though, We've recorded 7.35" of rain since midnight, A 66 mph wind gust, and at the peak, there were over 11,000 lightning strikes in one hour. Damage reports are still trickling in, it'll probably be tomorrow before some of the tornados are confirmed.

Tomorrow there will probably be wildfires  :lol:


And thanks Mark, we were just fine here, we dodged yet another bullet (in my area).
