Title: 12- year Anniversary
Post by: Downlinerz2 on May 03, 2011, 10:20:08 AM
Today is the anniversary of another tornado.  Not an epic outbreak like last week but an awesome one in any case.  Today is the anniversary of the Moore, OK F5 tornado.
It was part of an outbreak from 3 May to 6 May 1999.  There were 148 tornadoes and 48 fatalities.
The Moore F5 had winds possibly >318 mph .  It was also the event where the infamaous underpass fatalities occurred.  The videos of this tornado are some of the best IMHO.

IIRC This was the one that Josh Wurman and his DOW was able to record wind speeds of 300 mph +  318 IIRC.

Like was said earlier..a grim anniversary..
