My Stream is still working using HTML5 on my site .. it seems that the old page at https://www.wunderground.com/wxradio/index.html is having a problem showing the list of stations.  Likely a temporary glitch...

Audiostream is down, can't even connect, just another thing to add to the list of ailments for wunderground.com.

Your WU Sticker also shows "No Data"

As I said in the other thread... to save ourselves time it should be the other way around, we should post here every time WU works

Day #2, then radio streaming is still down, everything else seems to be working, especially the webcams which didn't seem to be effected at all.

Sent them an email, let us see if we hear from them.  But since I want to follow Jachym's suggestion not to say anything unless things are working, I have nothing to say right now.

Hi,

Thanks to Bob and Ken for getting onto this, I'm surprised that WU didn't send out emails to us users about the issues, or at least post a note onto our station page at WU stating the issues with certain parts of the their site, at least then we would know ok things are in hand, just a waiting game, but not to say nothing, well that's not good customer service or being very professional business wise.  If WU are thinking of charging all of us to use their services in the future, guess what - when that comes to being we will all be gone else where - after all - look after the customer and they will follow you to the ends of the earth !

The only time WU sent me an email about something was about my weather station being down.   More often than not, I had already noticed the situation and took care of it.  But I don't mean to complain.

I use Wimpy Player http://www.wimpyplayer.com/ for radio on my site here http://www.sunprairieweather.com/wxradio.php. It is "served" on my local computer so there is bandwith limitations if you have many people streaming from your computer. I haven't had any problems since I set it up. Got tired of the WU Problems.

I use BroadWave (http://www.nch.com.au/streaming/support.html).  Similar conditions as Andy stated.  I have been very happy with it.

I stream with Broadwave to simple html5 Audio button in the header.  (Also have a Wimpy player on site, inactive since it's the older flash version) I quit bothering with streaming to WOO ooo a long time ago..  HTML audio is about as simple as it can get:
Code: [Select]
<div class="fwxnoaarad">
<!-- <audio id="noaaRAD">
            <source src='http://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:88/broadwave.mp3' type='audio/mpeg' />
        </audio>
        <a id="audioControl" href="#" title="NOAA All Hazards Radio. Frankfort KY 162.5 MHz. IF STREAM STOPS, please refresh the page."><img src="listenB.png" id="playfwx" alt="Listen"/><img src="stopB.png" id="pausefwx" alt="Stop"/></a>
-->
<!--HTML5 AUDIO IS ENCRYPTED BELOW  FOR W3C VALIDATION  - IGNORES THE HTML5 AUDIO TAGS (invalid for XHTML 1) -->

Now, the above needs controls of some type... mine are below... and it won't "validate" in doctype used on my templates, so it's commented out, and encrypted as similar to simply so page will validate
Code: [Select]
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write(unescape("%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%3Caudio%20id%3D%22noaaRAD%22%3E%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%3Csource%20src%3D%27http%3A//xx.xxx.xxx.xxx%3A88/broadwave.mp3%27%20type%3D%27audio/mpeg%27%20/%3E%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%3C/audio%3E%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%3Ca%20id%3D%22audioControl%22%20href%3D%22%23%22%20title%3D%22NOAA%20All%20Hazards%20Radio.%20Frankfort%20KY%20162.5%20MHz.%20IF%20STREAM%20STOPS%2C%20please%20refresh%20the%20page.%22%3E%3Cimg%20src%3D%22listenB.png%22%20id%3D%22playfwx%22%20alt%3D%22Listen%22/%3E%3Cimg%20src%3D%22stopB.png%22%20id%3D%22pausefwx%22%20alt%3D%22Stop%22/%3E%3C/a%3E"));
//-->
 </script>

Then there's this script that simply switches the 'play / stop" modes... default is 'stop'... visitor can control volume locally:
Code: [Select]
<script type="text/javascript">
var wxRadioFW = document.getElementById('noaaRAD'),
    ctrl = document.getElementById('audioControl'),
    playButton = document.getElementById('playfwx'),
    pauseButton = document.getElementById('pausefwx');

function toggleButton() {
    if (playButton.style.display === 'none') {
        playButton.style.display = 'block';
        pauseButton.style.display = 'none';
    } else {
        playButton.style.display = 'none';
        pauseButton.style.display = 'block';
    }
}
ctrl.onclick = function () {
    if (wxRadioFW.paused) {
        wxRadioFW.play();
    } else {
        wxRadioFW.pause();
    }
        toggleButton();
    // Prevent Default Action
    return false;
};
</script>
Click my banner below, and look in the header...

Well more than 24 hours and not even a computer generated "your inquiry is important to us..."  So for Jachym I still have nothing to say.  I too was going to ask if anyone had implemented a different path, thanks for the suggestions they are most helpful.  May over the next few days see if I can set up alternatives for WU on the site and cut the cord so to speak.

Well no sign that the feeds are coming back up so I took the suggestions and am self feeding my site.  Thanks Mike, Otis and Andy for your suggestions, went the broadwave route, things seem to be working http://cliftonvaweather.com/wx-radio.php and http://cliftonvaweather.com/cell-radio.php.  Have discontinued my NOAA feed to WU.

Bob, glad you got your NOAA feed working.  Cutty (Mike) was instrumental in me getting mine going - he is a great help.

I bit the bullet and put my stream up using BroadWave Plus V2.00 today.  The radio page uses the <audio> control for the .mp3 stream.  Since I have that page as HTML5, no additional mods were needed.

I'm leaving edcast up and trying to stream to audioplayer.wunderground.com, but the server is still non-responsive.  I also filed a support ticket with them, and haven't heard from John Celenza yet.

Sad to see parts of the original service 'flake off' without a reasonable response.  Think I'll try a Twitter post to see if that gets more action.

And I would say that if even you did not get a reply, things are really bad at WU end, because I know that several times when I tried contacting them (back when I was still so naive thinking things might get better), they never got back to me only after you stepped in

Well if Ken doesn't succeed, it might be good to put together a web page linking to "independent" noaa feeds similar to the one that isn't working on the WU site, it was a good service.  My page similar to Ken was html5 as well so it only required a change in pointing to the broadwave feed from the edcast one on WU.  Should they bring it back up I may bring the edcast feed to them back up, but I have a feeling that their priorities are very much elsewhere.
