You might see if you can return the Weatherbridge to Ambient since it’s not functioning as it should and get a WiFi Logger instead.
It’s just a little more costly than the Weatherbridge. Installs inside your VP2 Console and connects via WiFi to your router. It will upload data to WeatherLink as well as WU, pwsweather and weather cloud and several others.
The Nano SD similarly installs in place of the WLIP and does much more and uploads data to just about any weather service you can name as well as having a Weather34 Dashboard you access as a browser window (  it costs more as well ) but doesn’t upload to WeatherLink if you require that capability.
I have both, and both work just as designed. I love them both. It really depends on what features you need and how much you wish to spend

I think the best solution is WeatherLink Live device.

Advantages to WLL:
  • Allows you to run as many weather software as you want simultaneously; Meteobridge, Weather-Display, WeeWx, and Cumulus MX....yes all at the same time.
  • Avoid needing logger in console to prevent overheating of indoor temperature sensor on display.
  • Retain ability to upload to Weatherlink.com
  • Display is free to be moved and not require extra connections coming from it other than power
  • Greater expandability options for extra sensors
  • Greater future capabilities by use of WLL's local API that no other Davis or 3rd party logger has. You don't need to know what an API is or how to use one....you just run software or connect devices that leverage and use it.
  • If Davis were to ever come out with a new color display I bet it would just be a display that talks to the WLL (via local API) ...so yes this means it would require the WLL to get data. But this is good as it would make this display cost less because it needs less.

The problem with the WLL device is that it only uploads data to WeatherLink. If you want to upload weather continuously to another weather service you need a program configured to access the WLL local API that is running continuously on a separate PC be it a laptop, desktop or miniature such as an RPI.
The heating issues caused by the Wi Fi Logger and Nano SD can be compensated for by the temperature offset in the console.
The WiFi Logger and Nano SD are currently the only devices that I know of that connect to a WiFi router and are self contained, upload to multiple weather networks and easily configured with their on board browsers. You would need to run multiple programs on your continuously running separate PC to upload to separate weather networks each of which would need to be configured separately. A daunting prospect for people who aren’t experienced computer users or weather geeks.
Further, the customer service from Boris regarding the Nano SD and from Wojciech regarding the WiFi Logger have been extraordinarily.
 Just my 5 cents.

Not true that a PC or Raspberry Pi is required.

WLL - - > Meteobridge - - > to anywhere you want

The WLL is self contained and it connects via WiFi or Ethernet.
Even without the Meteobridge, Weatherlink.com sends data to WU and CWOP.
WLL is easy to configure....as is a Meteobridge.

The Meteobridge Nano (sans-SD) runs the same features as a standard Meteobridge. If you want extra NANO features then get Meteobridge Pro (black) which you can order directly from Smartbedded.

Weatherlink may  forward information to WU and CWOP, but since the original poster already has the WLIP he already has those abilities. He must want the ability now to upload to other weather services. WLL does not yet have those abilities.
There is a Github page on accessing the WLL internal API but it’s under development.
It appears the original poster has a hardware problem with his Ambient Weather Meteobridge ( Weatherbridge ). He can either have Ambient replace it or try one of the other products. The WLL may develop into a very comprehensive weather reporting tool but at present seems not to be fully developed or supported at least to the extent that the WiFi Logger, NanoSD and Meteobrige are now and the WLL will require a dedicated computer running full time to have 24-7 weather data uploads (  via programs as yet not available ) to any additional weather services, which is the biggest advantage of Weatherbridge, NANO & Nano SD and WiFi Logger.
The Meteobrige Pro is a great piece of equipment but much more costly than any of the others. It all depends on what features you want or need and how much you’re willing to pay to get them.

My comment about the best solution was not specifically intended for the OP. My comment was for you because you jump in and started talking about WiFiLoggers and Meteobridge NANO.

Under development or not is inconsequential. All currently active weather software applications already fully support the WLL API; Meteobridge, Weather-Display, WeeWx, and Cumulus MX. No need to wait for final word from Davis to begin to take advantage of the WLL capabilities.

I don't see the WLL device as instead of a WiFiLogger or MB NANO. I see the WLL as a replacement for a USB Logger or an IP Logger. Which were all loggers that were normally paired with something else. Therefore my recommendation is WLL plus whatever you want. I'm not recommending anyone run WLL alone. The whole point is the WLL's API ....and for that you need to pair with with something else....and you have all the options available AND best of all you are not limited to only one...you can run them all at the same time.

I understand your position. I was however responding to the OPs issues with his Weatherbridge ( Meteobridge ) making suggestions to resolve his problems in the easiest and least expensive way. While the WLL paired with another device may be the most comprehensive weather reporting device available it will also cost much more than any of the stand alone plug in devices that replace the internal Davis Loggers and require configuring the secondary device to access the WLL API which is not as simple as programming the WiFi Logger or NANO/NANO SD.
Again, it’s a cost-benefit analysis of what it is you want or need, how much you’re willing to spend and how much technical knowledge is required.

Connecting a Meteobridge to WLL is about as simple as anything else.

I agree with you on price.

I’m fairly computer and software literate but can’t figure out how you can get  Meteobrige to upload data from the WLL API. Since Meteobridge requires that you select a weather station for data upload to Meteobridge and the only way to select a Davis Vantage Vue  or Vantage Pro2 is via USB or WLIP, how do you tell Meteobridge to get the data from the API since it’s not either a USB or WLIP connection ?.
With no online guide to follow it would be almost impossible for a non technicality inclined user to accomplish.

This is simply not true. You may not see it because you have a NANO. But since May 5th 2019 MB update firmware 4.0 supports the WeatherLink Live device and it is as simple as selecting WLL from the station types and giving it the IP address of the WLL and telling it what type of sensors you have. No documentation required. It is just there as a simple choice, not much different than configuring a WeatherlinkIP logger (you just need to also choose your station sensors from the drop down is all since the WLL can support up to 8 transmitters).

Here are all the choices for Davis WLL station types available:

Sorry, my bad, You’re correct. For the OP, it still may not solve his issues as it appears from the problems he’s still having after disabling VSS that he does indeed have a hardware issue with his Meteobridge ( weatherbridge ). If he can get the Weatherbridge fully functioning with his WLIP then the only additional functionality he would get by  changing to the WLL would be the ability to add additional sensors, a function he may not need or want.

Hi galfert,
thanks again for all of your help!!
After that...fortunatley I had an extra vantage vue console I was able to swap in and got the station back up and running....but no luck with meteobridge - sadly!

Did the OP finally get his MB working ?

Since Mattk believes there is something else besides VSS that is causing interference between the OPP’s use of the WLIP to access his Meteobridege ( Weatherbridge) and doing a firmware update to his console, I wonder if creating a guest network on his router and using that exclusively to access the WLIP might exclude any other devices and at least see if there is something in his network causing his problems ?.

The Meteobridge Nano runs the same as a standard Meteobridge.
No, the Nano has no ethernet port. The Nano can't work without a Davis Console.

That was a reference to the fact that the regular NANO runs the same feature set as a standard Meteobridge....unless you add an SD card and then it becomes NANO SD with data logging capabilities. Nothing to do with how it plugs in nor what the requirements are. Edited original post for clarity.
