Dad made me and my sisters a sled out of wood and other supplied like super duty tape....We use cutting boards in the kitchen for belly rides, and we use our black plastic garbage can lid as well...

It is a lot of fun!

Congrats on 200 posts Chris and Cienega!!!

NWS Short-term is calling for 60+ highs over the next 5 days with 65 on Monday! I've seen 59 a couple of times this month but low 60s would be a treat.

We will see...

We will be at or below normal for the next 5 days.. We have a potential wintry mix coming in on Monday and extending through Wednesday with rain, snow, ice, and sleet....Oh boy....

Could get out of school again though. The county school superintendent has extended our semester twice already this year. The time off has allowed me to get organize with some weather data collecting I have been doing.

Got back from Juarez about 3PM and while riding a high of 60.5 (high for the year), I opened almost every window in the house!  \:D/

Nice... VERY nice!  =D>

69.9 for a high today with minimal breezes -  =D>

A little early tho'. Feb 5th was the earliest (since 2008) to hit 70 for me and I have green things sprouting in the yard already.

No offense taken, Chris - it is what it is! If our fair state would look at sports betting as a solid source of revenue, it sure would save me some gas money....

Wow! We hit almost 50 degrees... We were above average today!

We will be tomorrow, but then Mother Nature cools us down again, with temperatures 20 degrees BELOW average by the end of the week with highs slightly above 20.

We hit 73 in Portales today. Too bad the wind was also blowing. Would've made a rather enjoyable bike ride without head/side wind pushing me around..

Well with the wind yesterday we hit 72. Then the clouds came, and then it got COLD. As I'm typing it's 23 outside in Portales. Missed our snow (it's in Oklahoma now).

Helllooooo winter. We missed you.  #-o

That snow you were talking about isnt in Oklahoma anymore....It is in my neighborhood... 3-6 by tomorrow morning and it is 30 minutes from reaching my house.  Highs tomorrow should stay in the 10s with windchills hovering around 0.

Ehhh, us West Virginians are good adapters..If I'm off tomorrow from school, then I will be outside shoveling the driveway and maybe splitting would and/or cutting kindling for the fireplace.

Portapotty!   =D>

They've been talking about this cold blast for a few days and they weren't kidding.

Additional note on my NM conditions - today marks the 1,200th day of no rain at my station that is 1,390 days (of records) old.

Ten more days for 1,400 days old!  \:D/ Gotta get a party hat

April 3rd 2007 is the "official" first day of data logging. I sure wish I had it for 2006. I got killed with rain that summer and it's what changed me from wanting one to having one. I wanted one the last 5 years or so that I lived in Las Vegas NV because of all the wild differences between the airport's official temps and the outer neighborhoods like mine. 5+ degrees in some cases. Same for the rain out there but after that 2006 summer in NM, I bought myself a Christmas present.

The best part of the data logging is watching previous station records get broken. It drives me nuts when I fall a half-degree short.

Yes, it smells like one sometimes. If the wind blows just right, all you smell is cows.

That is a LOT of DATA!!

My trips to Juarez go down I10 as you know. That one farm stretch can be brutal without any wind - I can sympathize with you.

My first ever drive thru that stretch, back in 2002, was on a delightful late afternoon in Aug and I was enjoying the first 1,000 miles of my 10,000 mile road trip with the top down on the car... right up until then.

I still haven't learned...

Every weekend - Sports Book.

Don't let the numbers and the hype fool you. 99% of the victims are involved or related to it one way or the other and that includes the 2 American Citizens - the consulate employee and prison worker - that they made a big deal out of on the news a little bit ago.

Knowing you won't know what I'm talking about but my area is El Centro. The Pronaf area has a good amount of problems and that's a few miles east of it. Further east and basically out of town is an area called "The Valley of Juarez" - that and the maquila area are where the most problems are. Most places in El Centro pay the protection and have no problems.

More recently, it all gives the common street punks an opportunity to blend in with the rest of the stats and violence. That and the fact that they tore down most of the good, old nite clubs over the last 3 years has me out of there before the sun goes down nowadays. No more bus rides across town, no more dinner engagements - no more 2 or 3 day stay-overs either.

No matter as my "reasons" have, for the most part, moved back to their family and homes further south. Except for one - she just disappeared. Her brother had some involvements so who knows what happened to them. In the fall of '06, she had told me to expect the crap to hit the fan in Juarez after the New Year and she was spot on.

For someone like me, the biggest problem has always been and will always be the Policia. Once the sun goes down, a gringo is a walking target for those corrupt pieces of $#!& nowadays.

Most major cities are hubs. Atlanta has been a major hub for the Cartels for a good number of years now.
