Saw some light rain last night and some dark clouds - amounted to not much more than .07". Winds began to pick up with the advent of a cold front…peak gust last night was 32 mph at 1:42 AM.

Deep freeze going on now…highs in the mid-upper 70s for the weekend!  \:D/

Another 0.15" of rain so far today and a low temp of 62.6 at 1:30PM. Forecast called for a high of 82. My high was 67.3 at midnite.

EDIT: 63.5 was lowest low this month and right now I'm at 62.4 - 30 degrees lower than yesterday's 2PM temp. A nice, gentle rain going on and it feels like Halloween weather on Long Island.

Summer's almost gone...  :-({|=

Fall is a nice time of year though - not too hot, not (too) cold. Of course, that's all before November before the cold really kicks in.

* WARNING LARGE PHOTOS *

^ Sandia Crest, 10,678 feet, and is 19*F

^ Valles Caldera in the Jemez Mountains north of here…39*F and 45*F - 8,750 +/- feet… (the light blue dot you see here is sitting at 10,597 feet…the other to the SE is at 8,669 feet)

Roughly 2000 ft elevation difference…

Accurate?  :-k

————————

Dove south towards Cruces…found the Sacramento Peak Observatory reading at 16*F at an elevation of around 9,250 feet. So something really isn't accurate at all.

That last image shows my 59 degree low. That came around 5PM. Cold and rainy all day and wouldn't surprise me if there was a dusting on the mountains.

0.25" of rain yesterday for 0.77" storm total. Puts me at 4.55" YTD and only 0.03" behind 2011's total with 5 less rain days.

I think the monsoon is over, no?

I totaled out at 2.68" for the summer. Weather is turning into a mid-autumn pattern…

So far this month alone I've picked up .99"…with the bulk of that falling this afternoon at a total of .76".

Left for school - 77*F

Left for home - 59*F

All in about three hours time.

A high yesterday of 90.3 was the first 90+ degree day since the 95.7 on the 7th. Even my pool went under 70 degrees. Winter is right around the corner...

"Autumn" begins on September 22, 10:49 A.M. EDT. Coincidentally enough, the 22nd will be my station's 2,000th day of data collection.

Trees are slowly turning up here…the Bosque is still green though. Had a backdoor cold front move through last night, with winds pushing 40 mph at times across the area. Temps held at around 80 throughout the day. Wasn't nearly as cold as the last back door that moved through last week…temps sunk into the 60s. Temps this week head towards the 90 mark, then fall to the lower 80s.

HAPPY 2,000 DAYS OF OPERATION!  \:D/ =D> \:D/

Today, the first day of Autumn, marks 2,000 days of recorded data for my station. Here's a small breakdown of my rain data for my location over the course of those 2,000 days:

Storms are back in the forecast. Yesterday I was out driving and got caught in a downpour that lasted for about ten minutes. Unfortunately, my house didn't receive much of this downpour…only .03.

I need to go update my rain totals.  #-o

the dewpoints over here in Sedona dropped from near 60 deg down to 40 deg, about two weeks ago.  It's like somebody threw the monsoon switch to OFF.

can't complain though, 8.87"

Miriam is still predicted to dump some precip down here but not as much as originally thought. They were 'casting 3" or so over the next few days during the Whole Enchilada Festival but are lowering the numbers with that storm now tracking more to the NW.

I only need 0.03" for this year to not be my driest (station).

Some lite drizzle today along with the day's low temp of 65*.  0.02" so far gives me a station history of 52" even. 0.01" to go to equal last year's "whopping" 4.58".

Saw some weak shower activity on Sunday, didn't amount to anything…the moon rises at night around here have been breathtaking though, almost in a spooky, Halloween sort of way.  #-o

Mid-upper 70s and clear sunny skies. That's balloon fiesta weather. (Until a front blows through here Friday night into Saturday…temps dip into the 60s for highs…now THAT is balloon fiesta weather  ](*,) )

Speaking of balloons - I had one flying around over town the other day.

Touching 90 for highs and mid-50s for lows the last few.

7:30 PM - winds started kicking up.

9:30 PM - peak gust of 32 MPH

Temps in the last two hours dropped 15*F.

I love this weather. Until we get the deep freezes.

You were on the tail end of that huge "winter weather statement" that's heading into the northeast now. I only hit 74.5 yesterday and a low of 50 this morning before going back to 82 today.

Yesterday morning we dropped to an overnight low of 42 - a whopping ten degrees warmer than Sunday morning - and this morning we bottomed out at 52. Today's highs are getting uncomfortable again - 77*F.

Still makes good windows-down weather.

Oh yeah…heard something strange flying over my neighborhood this morning…rumble and then zzzzzzzooom…not sure what a sonic boom sounds like. It made a second pass 20 minutes later but it was a faint rumble.

Could it be more aliens looking for Roswell?

This cutoff low hanging off the coast of California looks like it could have some real possibilities for us over here in Arizona, maybe late Thursday or Friday.  First winter pattern of the season!

Don't know if it will hang together for you New Mexico folks.

Same here for southern NM. Thursday nite is said to have the best chance of any precip here from that.
