Buying a VP2, few questions
« on: September 18, 2021, 09:22:20 PM »
This will be my first weather station, and I've pretty much settled on the VP2.

I will be running, at the very least, a Raspberry Pi for logging purposes. Is it a good idea to get the VP2 console or would that be somewhat redundant?

I came across a link to ScientificScales.com on this forum. Prices look good. Is  there any reason to by direct from Davis?

The price on these two bundles are almost identical. The first one includes a console. Am I missing something--are there other differences?

Hi,
Unless you actually want the console to look at, the WLL  bundle is all you would need.  You can see all the data on the WL app and/or Weatherlink.com

Make sure you compare at Scalled Instruments.  The WLL bundle seems to be a much better deal there.

Enjoy,
Paul

What Paul said. ^^^ . But for the ISS + WLL (no console) bundle you need to look specifically for the Davis part number 6112, which is a specially-priced factory bundle and not simply ISS (6332) + WLL (6100) as 2 separate items sold together. I think Ryan at SI has 6112 for around $480 + shipping.

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

To answer your question about buying direct from Davis—I am not aware of any benefit as long as you buy from an authorized reseller—Scaled Instruments is authorized and Scientific Sales is too, I believe.
Davis VP2 with SHT31 (3 complete VP2 systems—2 with a daytime fan and 1 that has a 24 hour fan); CWOP--CW5020, FW3075 and FW4350; WU--KILWHEAT17, KILWHEAT36 and KILWHEAT39; WeatherCloud.net; CoCoRaHS--IL-DP-132; and Weatherlink 2.0
