Hi John,

see http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=9538.msg112072#msg112072

and you will see how the wind icons disappear.

Ken's original does it right this one screws them up.

Dave.

What version of ajaxWDwx.js are you using with both?

Scott

Hi Scott,

I have installed version 6.20 with the language option, but it has not fixed the wind direction icons from being lost.

Take a look  http://www.wraxall-weather.co.uk/index.php

Did you look at this problem when changing the language selector.

Hi Scott,

I installed the ajaxWdwx.js that came with the 6.20 download.

var ajaxVersion  = "3.04a";
var ajaxVersDate = "22-Jan-2011"; /* Release date

So you are using the same file with both the working version and the non-working version of the code?

Hi Scott,

For Ken's version I renamed his ajaxWDwx to ajaxWD1wx

// --- Version 2.21 - 17-Feb-2011 -- added decimal comma option for international display

Ok, that was what I was wondering, if it still works with version 3.04a or not.

Hi Dave,

Went back to your site and saw the wind icon in place. Changed to Spanish. The wind icon was still there, but the page had completely lost contact with the CSS. A huge mess. This happened more than once.

Just FYI...

John,

It seems to get out of that problem you set the "Style" option and press "Set" and it goes away. But why it does that in the first place I do not know.

Another problem is with the forecast section, the German translation can be very large at times and causes the section to expand off the page and mess up the screen. As you can see the Alternate-Dashboard has many serious problems with the language selection option.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Obviously I can certainly understand the need for the language options. In my case I just stay with English - less hassle.

As for why that is happening - afraid I can offer no help. Sorry.

This seems to be the day for problems.

The solar icon is currently not showing on my main page. Source shows it's looking for...

<img src="ajax-images/SI79 %.gif" height="65" width="34" alt="" title="Current Solar Index" />

...which I understand it not finding.

It's been working great up to now. Haven't touched anything - honest!

Thanks.

Hi John,

I have the Solar icon problem from time to time, the function that creates the SI icon name get_SIrange($currentsolarpercent)
screws up and produces the wrong icon names.

Yes, I have been looking at that solar icon issue also, it seems that sometimes the value sent by WD is not a number so it fails to give the proper reading.. I may have to add an icon for N/A or something for those times.

Trying to understand this - why wouldn't it fail on the mobile dash at the same time? Don't the two programs get their data from the same place?

Hi All,

Need some help. When I click on the home option on the flyout menu I get the following:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /homepages/6/d330860172/htdocs/wxindex.php on line 51

Line 51 in wxindex.php is:

<div id="main-copy">

What is causing this?

Thanks.

Clicking on your banner brings you to index.php

Maybe change the link in flyout menu to reflect that?

Hi Scott,

I don't know if this is just my problem but whenever the UV index in the prediction mode goes over 12.5 or more the UV icon is not displayed.  Also, during the day when it goes over that 12.5 threshold the icon is not displayed for some reason. Sometimes I get a UV index that approaches 15 when the sun is near vertical at my location.  This happens BTW twice a year being in the tropics.  It is called the Lahaina Noon over here. See the attached snapshot from this evening. I am currently using version 6.20.

Thanks for you comment or possible solution.

I will have to add in some code to handle that.  I didn't think there was supposed to be anything over 11 so I didn't put anything in there to handle that.

Scott,

The Solar Icon issue could be complicated by a programming issue.  I don't think it's a good idea to pass a value to a routine, manipulate the value in a routine, and then pass it back to the caller all the while using the same variable name.  This routine, 'get_SIrange', is used in both Alternative-Dashboard Version 6.20 and WWL-mobile mobile dashboard.  If you look at it you will see that it is called with the parameter '$currentsolarpercent' by the calling routine, but '$si' is used as the data passed to it, which then is manipulated by the routine and returned as '$si'.  I've changed the routine to use a strictly local parameter as follows:
Code: [Select]
function get_SIrange ( $solarpercent ) {
   switch (TRUE) {
     case ($solarpercent == 0):
       $si = '0';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent > 0) and ($solarpercent < 10)):
       $si = '0';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 10) and ($solarpercent < 19)):
       $si = '1';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 20) and ($solarpercent < 29)):
       $si = '2';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 30) and ($solarpercent < 39)):
       $si = '3';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 40) and ($solarpercent < 49)):
       $si = '4';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 50) and ($solarpercent < 59)):
       $si = '5';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 60) and ($solarpercent < 69)):
       $si = '6';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 70) and ($solarpercent < 79)):
       $si = '7';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 80) and ($solarpercenti < 89)):
       $si = '8';
     break;
     case (($solarpercent >= 90) and ($solarpercent < 99)):
       $si = '9';
     break;
     case ($solarpercent >= 100):
       $si = '10';
     break;
   } // end switch
   return $si;
} // end get_Solarrange

This may or may not have anything to do with the red 'x' showing up at times instead of the Solar Index icon.  I'm not seeing it with my modified Ajax-Dashboard6 or my modified mobile dashboard, for whatever it's worth.

I'll check that out, see if it helps!  From what I've seen though, it is actually coming from WD.

Someone that was visiting my site and noticed a problem that I was having with my ajax updates and brought it to my attention. When you go to my homepage: www.carolinastormwatch.com/ the page will update as it should but then after that the time flashes green every 5-10 seconds as it should but the info on the dashboard is not updating and the it is not resetting the update time; the page continues on and does not refresh unless you manually refresh the page.

I have no idea when this began and how long it has been going on but it had been working fine previously. I am thinking that this issue began when I updated my testtags which was causing an issue because I was missing some tags. Probably a coincidence and not sure this was the time problem developed.

I am running Version 6.10 of Scott's Dashboard. Anyone have any ideas of what may be going on here??? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Wonderful job that you have done building this script Scott; I know this all has been a pain in the a#@ at times but we certainly appreciate your great work!!
