UPDATE:  Version 6.10 is now available to download (see first message in this thread).  The latest version changes the UV Forecast into 3 icons rather then the words.  In the past, the words would push the column too wide when the longer words were displayed.  I also removed the year from the date in the UV Forecast.

Thanks to all those that beta tested the changes, I had enough people try it to feel confident it's working well.

It might be as the reading come from WD in that tag and it clearly shows 0 in your tags.  Have you looked in WD itself to see what it shows?

It looks like it is reported correctly in WD.  See Graphic.

That's weird, All I did is View/Trends and now it is working!

One last question Scott,

I made a change to the end of ajax-dashboard6.php.  I added on this day in the us section.  It has 2 validation errors.  I used the mostly the same code I did on my ajax-dashboard.php file, which validates.  Check www.napavineweather.info/indextest.php.  Any Ideas?

Thanks,
James

James,

I think you are forgetting to use a TR and a TD to start before the TABLE command.

You know, I added it once, and I had more errors, but then when you mentioned it in your post, I took a second look and found that I closed them in the wrong place.  All is good now.  I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to coding.

Thanks
James

Hi Scott,

I have done two pages to demonstrate the problems of using multi-language with your dashboard.

http://www.wraxall-weather.co.uk/index.php   ; This one uses you ajaxWDwx.js and dashboard and if you change the language the wind icon are soon lost.

http://www.wraxall-weather.co.uk/wxtest.php  ; This one uses Ken's dashboard and ajaxWDwx.js and if you change the language everything works. Ken's does not translate the icon direction so in German you get wr-de-SE.png.

To make this work I have rename and amended Settings.php, Settings-Weather.php, Ken's dashboard and ajaxWDwx.js.

Try the two examples changing the language and you will see the problems with your Alt-dashboard.

The dashboard file you sent me had the same problem.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Dave

Hi Scott,

Got your up dated version up and running.  During my night time hours, looks a lot better and all lines up whereas, before my night time hour, some places goes askew. Day light hours was not a problem as my UV and solar sensors take over those two spots..

Thank you for the fix and determination for this project.

Glad it's working better!  Still have a few more issues to work with but I'm getting closer to having most of the issues resolved.  Just not much time to work on things right now!

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the great script.  It's amazing what you have included in the modified dashboard.

When you get a chance could you check on the 6.10 UV icon display. During the day I get an icon, but if the UV highest reading is, say, 2.2, the 3 icon shows up.  Is the rounding algorithm going up?

At night when it switches to the forecast mode, I just get placeholders for the icons.

I tried to apply my rudimentary programming skills to the problems by adding a precision of 2 to the php rounding routine. All I can say right now is that I apparently didn't break anything by making this change to the dashboard code:
Line 1412
Code: [Select]
...<img src="ajax-images/UV<?php echo round($VPuv,2); ?>.gif"...and Lines 1444, 1451, and 1458
Code: [Select]
<img src="ajax-images/UV<?php echo round($UVfcstUVI[$UVptr],2); ?>.gif"...
We'll see what happens the rest of today and tonight.  Click on my signature graphic to see the results.

All I know right now is that the highest daytime UV Index is higher than my current widely fluctuating UV Index on a partly cloudy day.

I finally went to school on php's round() function and I think it's broken, at least on GoDaddy.  It is supposed to default to a whole number rounding up or down at .5, but apparently it doesn't.  When I entered 0 as the rounding precision the correct icons display in the dashboard.  In order to get the icons to match the forecast numbers in 'wxuvforecast.php' I had to enter an offset of -1 for the day, and comment out the last two UVptr++'s in the routine.  I also qualified the icon directory with a leading slash and used all lower case.  This code works tonight for me:
Code: [Select]

$UVptr = 0;  // index for which day to use
?>
        <tr>
          <td class="datahead" style="text-align:center"><?php echo $leftHead?></td>

Well, now I know what happens. The day didn't increment properly.  It works before dawn if I revert all of the $UVptr-1 entries to $UVptr, comment out the initial $UVptr++ in the PM portion of the conditional, and uncomment the third day's $UVptr++ like so:
Code: [Select]

$UVptr = 0;  // index for which day to use
?>
        <tr>
          <td class="datahead" style="text-align:center"><?php echo $leftHead?></td>

My addled brain failed to notice that I had effectively neutralized the first $UVptr++ statement with my $UVptr-1 modifications.  I also noticed that WWL-mobile.php was skipping tomorrow's date before midnight last night but is correct early this AM, so I also commented out the $UVptr++ in the PM portion of WWL-mobile.php.  Dawn and PM will bring new challenges, I'm sure.

Edit May29 10PM CDT

1) Forgot to watch the clock as I worked past midnight.  Removed all $UVptr++ modifications in ajax-dashboard6.php and WWL-mobile.php this evening except the last one in ajax-dashboard6.php in line 1463 because I was unaware of the actual date!  All of my icons are now displaying with the correct date and data.

2) The icon directory modifications in ajax-dashboard6.php remain in place and it's working correctly, I think.

3) I changed the above code to what is working for me.

Scott, (or others)
Just added solar + uv to my Davis.
You have solar icons on your site. I couldn't find those settings.
Also I had to rename the UV icons to lower case to get it to display. (eg UV01.gif to uv01.gif)
Lastly maybe related to case sensitivity Bashewa's weather cloud shows a broken image.

Have a great Holiday WE.

This is the very same problem I struggled with.  Lowercase UV icon names along with forcing round() to the supposed default behavior of whole numbers somehow redisplayed them for me as well.

Jerry,
Thanks for detailed posts. I have mine mostly figured out.  I did have some bad temps this morning.
$maxtemp =  '-148.0';   // today's maximum temperature
$maxtempt =  '5:43 PM';   // time this occurred
$mintemp =  '212.0';   // today's minimum temperature

When I added the new sensors yesterday, initially the Davis consul didn't see them. I had to recheck all the hardware connections., then fool around with the Davis consul. Finally they worked. Then I changed settings in WD, I should have rebooted that netbook (Weather Display), once i did that (this am) all returned to normal. I think.

http://www.gwwilkins.org/ looks good this morning.

Scott the feels like temp seem high?

It's a calculated number from Weather Display, if you have high humidity and dewpoints that would be understandable

Hi Ed,

The solar icons are not quite ready yet, they are part of the next update and will be optional.

Scott

Scott, (or others)
Just added solar + uv to my Davis.
You have solar icons on your site. I couldn't find those settings.
Also I had to rename the UV icons to lower case to get it to display. (eg UV01.gif to uv01.gif)
Lastly maybe related to case sensitivity Bashewa's weather cloud shows a broken image.

Have a great Holiday WE.

Yes, I believe so.  I think there is a topic on it on the weather display forum if you want to search there for it.  I can't remember exactly how it is determined now.

My home page consistently failed to validate as Valid XHTML 1.0 with  the validator.w3.org/check?uri=referrer engine giving me a </table> error.  This was occurring in the section of code that would display snow depth and/or lightning data, neither of which I currently display in the dashboard. Here is the code that eliminated the validation error:
Code: [Select]

<?php // end $useSNOW  ---------------------------------------- ?>
<?php if ((!$useLIGT) and ((!$useSNOW) and (!$displaySnow))) { ?>
            <tr>
              <td class="data2" colspan="2" style="text-align:center;">
                <?php echo "This Space Filled Soon" ?>
              </td>
            </tr>
<?php } ?>
      </table>
I added the lines between the first and last lines which display an empty message, and the page now validates.

Yes, I would guess that it would fail a validation because the spot needs the table code there to hold the space, it was not designed to have nothing there as an option.  I will look into making that an option in future releases.
