Meteobridge starts and then immediately stops
« on: February 17, 2020, 11:28:40 AM »
Hi all,

I have a Davis Pro 2 Wireless talking to Weather Underground via a Meteobridge.  Lately, the data transfer process seems to get hung up and the quick fix is to either re-boot the Meteobridge (via my PC and the software page), reboot the PC altogether, or unplug/reboot the Meteobridge hardware.

Just recently, none of these fixes seem to help.  I can re-boot the Meteobridge from my PC, causing data transfer to start and sites like Weather Underground to see the station, but then it immediately stops, and data transfer no longer occurs.  I can see on Weather Underground that the site is registering, as the location appears, but since the transfer stops, no actual data appears on the WU map/location.

Does anybody know the reason that the data transfer would start and then immediately stop?

All of the station settings have remained the same and I'm still receiving the latest software upgrades from Meteobridge.

There's just some little thing that keeps the data transfer from continuing.

Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!

Steffan

You didn't mention what logger type you are using; WLL, USB, or IP? I'll take a stab and guess that it is WLIP.

That would be a USB.

Thanks!

You should be able to see what is happening from the Meteobridge 'System' tab. The 'Messages' section is at the bottom of the screen. Also on the 'Live Data' tab Meteobridge will give some information.

Meteobridge or Weather Underground problem --- 99% of the time it will be a Weather Underground issue.

Ah, well that was unexpected only because of all the recent WLIP issues.

Copy and paste back what you see under the "Messages" section of the Services tab as bchwdlks said. That will provide more clues.

This is the data from the Messages section when I try to start the Meteobridge.  Any thoughts?

As it can not read the device (your USB logger) on the USB port:
Is there a USB-hub present?
If so, is it a powered one and is the power-unit still OK?

Here is a picture of my meteobridge setup.
Seems OK, unpowered hub.
I assume you checked the USB cable from Meteobridge to the console if it is firmly seated?

I attach my list of system messages for a similar device:
Code: [Select]
logger (13.02.2020 09:10:05): can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:05): message above repeats 2 times.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:35): give up waiting for sensors after 120 secs.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:35): services activated.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:35): connect station 0 (Vantage via USB serial).
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:35): wakeup sent.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:38): no need to update console date/time.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:39): setup script executed.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:39): internal logger activated.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:39): syncing.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): gettime request sent.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): no Vantage time offset.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): eeprom request sent.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): rain collector size 0.2 mm per tick.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): transmitter 7 active as station type #0 "ISS".
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): firmware version request sent.
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): firmware version 1.82
logger (13.02.2020 09:11:49): no reading of Vantage's internal logger.

You do not get any messages after  logger (18.02.2020 03:58:19): can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory ?
Because those  "can't open device" are normal messages.

Thanks for all of your help Wim!

No, that is the last message that I receive.

All cables are completely seated and none are worn/frayed.

You have to set and test access for remote access.
https://forum.meteohub.de/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=9885&p=31860#p31860
If that works, logon to the Meteohub/Meteobridge forum and post your question there.
https://forum.meteohub.de/viewforum.php?f=56
Probably Boris (the developer of the Meteobridge code) will answer your post and ask to sent him an email with the  remote login and password.
It is obvious that you should NOT post the URL or password on any forum.

You could also sent an email at  info(at)meteobridge.com  with the same URL and password explaining what the problem is.
