Fog in August
« on: June 11, 2011, 11:37:18 PM »
"For every fog in August, there will be a snowfall in Winter".  Going to have to keep track of this one when August arrives.

Speaking of winter the picture is an alert system you can use next winter!

Interesting fact:  I just read that weather folklore is based on "fear and superstition".
Weatherlore is based on observations.

I would put that is the category of "ASTROLOGY" being (etiymologically) "reasoning of the stars" and "ASTRONOMY being "principles of the stars."  There was a bit of debate in the 13th century about which one was based on fear and superstition and which one on observations.

I agree with the astrology/astronomy bit.  People still think astrology is a real science.

And there are a few flat-earthers left around too.

That lore is good news for me. Our area experiences more foggy days than almost everyone else in the US! I'll start counting this August!
