WS-2902a array repair after hail storm
« on: April 08, 2020, 09:05:46 PM »
Last night a major hail storm beat on my ws-2902a. The solar charging panel took a direct hit.

Looking for instructions (pdf  or other) on changing the WS-2902-ARRAY Replacement Sensor Array. https://www.ambientweather.com/amwewsrearas.html
Have to wonder if I would be better off just buying a new array.

After spending way too much time being careful the 2902 array and sensors are apart.  Ordered the replacement array from AW.

Sorry to hear about your station damage by hail storm.

Being that you have an Ambient branded station, you really had no other option but to replace the sensor array from Ambient. What I mean is that you can't get alternative parts from Ecowitt as they would not be compatible with your Ambient console. Ambient restricts their consoles with custom firmware so you can't use other's sensors. I'd be okay with that if they sold all the sensors but they don't. I'd like to upgrade my sensors to separate components (WS68, WH40) but Ambient doesn't sell the WS68 and I'm not interested in the WS80. So your only other option would have been WS80 and WH40 if you were okay with those, but the WS80 doesn't seem available from Ambient separately just yet.

Yup, seeing how I just purchased a WS-2000-C for this pws making it a no brainier.  Other wise I might have opted for something else. Like the idea of having wind wh68 , temp and rain ws40 as separate units sensors. Also like the eye candy of the WS-2000-C.
