Part two of Covid-19 has began....wife went to the local store that has a meat market. Three ~2 pound packs of hamburger meat. A little over 6lbs. And the grand total was $60 and some change
Wow, I haven't seen that here yet, 85% lean ground meat is on sale for $3 a pound right now.

Notice the cop in the picture isn't wearing the mask correctly. It goes over the nose as well.  What does he think that the droplets from the angry lady only go to the mouth??

Would think the mask would only help the person wearing it from spreading the droplets out as far? As for helping you from breathing in the virus it's kinda like trying to catch a horse-fly with a barb wire fence....

I still think wearing a mask is better than nothing.  I was sure glad I had one on when a guy sneezed fairly near me while I was in Wal-Mart the other day.

Sorry about the unfortunate situation.  Keep safe in more ways than one.  Maybe time for you to move to greener and more peaceful pastures.

Today was my weekly shopping day again. Things are getting back to normal shortage wise. Plenty of TP, no meat shortage and even yeast is back in stock. They still didn't have my favorite brand of crunchy peanut butter but if I was desperate there's lots of other brands.

Mask wise nothing much has changed. About 3/4 of the customers have them, all the employees have face protection, either a mask or in a few cases a full face visor. Like last time a few aren't wearing them properly.

We've had a big up tick in cases over the last week going from 3 or 4 new cases a day, to 15 - 25 a day. "They" say this is because of an outbreak at a business that's under control and not community spreading.

I'm hoping to get a good nights sleep so I'm fully rested and ready for another full day of washing hands and looking out the window.  :-)

Interesting.  Thanks to Oklahoma reopening faster than other states means more things going on at the county fairgrounds this summer and maybe later when the county fair starts in late August.  If there is a cat show, I'm going.

"Noting only one active COVID-19 virus case in Payne County, Chris Reding, Payne County Commissioner for District 2, recommended moving to Phase 3 of Governor Kevin Stitt’s plan to open Oklahoma’s economy earlier than the Governor’s June 1 goal.

During Thursday’s end of the month meeting of the Payne County Board of Commissioners, all three commissioners voted in favor of moving ahead to Phase 3.

Reding told the News Press that the main reason for moving ahead as early as possible was to give the Payne County Expo Center a head start on booking events.

Expo Center manager Colin Campbell has been receiving a lot of phone calls from event organizers who had scheduled in other areas and other states that are not opening up yet, Reding said.

He sees an opportunity for the county to benefit from their need to find a new venue.

The move to Phase 3 doesn’t affect the Payne County Administrations building and road district offices, which have already opened to the public.

County courthouses are getting back to business, although social distancing requirements remain in place and trials have been rescheduled for after July 31, based on an order from the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Phase 3 provides that employers can resume unrestricted staffing of worksites and summer camps for churches and schools can open.

A health care facility may allow one patient representative to accompany a patient on a health care visit but visits to senior care facilities are still prohibited.

Phase 1 of Stitt’s plan allowed dining, entertainment, movie theaters and sporting venues to open on May 1, using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols.

The CDC has updated considerations for restaurants and bars that recommend changing restaurant and bar layouts to ensure that all customer parties remain at least 6 feet apart.

Reding said the county’s move to Phase 3 allows bars and restaurants that aren’t located within a city’s corporate limits to operate.

“Let’s get this county back to work and back to business,” he said."

Hi  New Zealand here.  You may have seen us mentioned from time to time on the news.

As of today, we have just 1 active case.  Regretably a total of 22 people died.  We are still in a limited movement regime which is due to be reviewed next week.  Looks like our Government (in particular, PM Jacinda Ardern) got it right.

good here this morning. No issues.
I do say a thank you prayer that I do not live in MPLS proper. I have been telling co-workers for years to get out.

Cases are spiking in Stillwater!  The Hideaway, a popular pizza place closed, due to a worker testing positive.  I was sure glad I was properly wearing a mask while getting a haircut yesterday.  The barber had a mask on but wasn't over the nose.   A message from the mayor:

LOCAL COVID UPDATE (June 12)
Monday, June 8: 3 new cases
Tuesday, June 9: 1 new case
Wednesday, June 10: 3 new cases
Thursday, June 11: 6 new cases
Friday, June 12: 12 new cases

Total for the last 5 days: 25 new COVID cases in Stillwater.
This week alone, Stillwater has more new COVID cases than we had in March, April and May, combined. The second wave is here, and it's spreading faster than the first.

This is very concerning, and clearly a factor of more residents back in Stillwater and more personal interaction among residents. Many, if not most, of these new cases are among young adults in our community. While this new outbreak has not resulted in substantial hospitalizations, I am worried that it is just a matter of time before these cases reach our more vulnerable populations.

YOU MUST DO YOUR PART TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE. Even if you are young and healthy, you can catch COVID and you can spread COVID. You can give the disease to someone less resilient than you, and they can get very sick or even die.

Our local taskforce is meeting today to discuss the situation and potential responses. No matter what, each person in Stillwater needs to recognize the serious nature of this disease and choose to protect themselves and their neighbors by following CDC and state health guidelines.  Wear a mask in public. Avoid crowded areas. Wash your hands frequently. Keep your distance from other people.
Love your neighbor. Stop the spread.

Eskimo Joe's, world wide famous for its cute T-shirt design, pictured, has elected not to close.  Not one of my top favorites, so glad I haven't been there.   As of Saturday, Stillwater positive cases increased by 22 in one day.  That's nearly the same number that had peaked out for the pandemic and settled there for around 6 weeks before this spike.

Message from Eskimo Joe's:

"As you are likely aware, Oklahoma has incurred a spike in positive COVID-19 cases. Today we were notified that one of our employees at Eskimo Joe's has tested positive for the virus.

In consultation with the Payne County Health Department, we will continue to execute our extensive sanitation and safety protocols that follow CDC recommendations for restaurant operations. If you have concerns about your recent visit to any restaurant, please contact your local health department for guidance.

We are honored with every opportunity to serve our valued guests and we thank you for your continued support."

Well you got the riots, we got the covid.  Us and Missouri are the idiot states.  Everything is open from swimming pools, bars, casinos,,  you name it.  The numbers are fudged I am certain what is being released.    Any special ed teacher can see fudged data a mile away.  People are beginning to figure it out.  In any case, we are still isolating.

Talking with a tear in our eyes, wanting to go to Dairy Queen and get a Mr. Misty so bad and yet not take the risk of some nerd in the back scooping ice with his unwashed fetid hands into the ice bucket to go to the ice crusher.  So we are home,   Wife is reading , I am going nuts.  But we are trying to stay well. Temptation is there, but so is the need not to die.

72 with anemia, asthma, high blood pressure a good choice of a victim here.  No,  just going to stay home, and fester.

I really haven't been watching this thread, but here's my 2020 story.

I got sent home from work end of March.  I work in IT and I can do "most" of my job from home.  Would rather be in the office, but given the state of things, I'll make do.

My wife works from home in the medical field.  Two weeks into me being at home, she got laid off due to COVID.  Her job saw a major decrease in case load and she was let go.

Two weeks later, my wife is going crazy being stuck at home.  She's a busy body and needs something to do.  Gets a call from her doctor.  Abnormality in her mammogram.  Long story short, she has breast cancer at 50.  So we're just at the beginning of all that crap.  Chemo, surgery, radiation, they whole nine yards.  Luckily I have good insurance through my work, and my wife has the time to focus on anything that comes up.

But when you think it can't get any worse, it can.  So be happy with what you have.  Stay safe out there my friends!...
