yes there different ways of doing it , simply using the cam.php in version 34E you can replace any existing module
or you can use a second page accessible via the menu as see in the screenshots below using the optional second page , this optional page simply allows you build another page with using additional data from other sources . these are customised by the individuals so a bit of PHP knowledge is required but nothing to complex.

you can customise it to your imagination , or if you need more help in a particular area just drop a pm , don't know where you are from but Im in Istanbul,turkey so sometimes the responses may be delayed due to time differences.

 its not recommended to load up external resources on the main page it will have a massive impact on loading performance so try to keep the main page of the dashboard to using only data served from your server .

Update (10-Mar-2017)   - Please note there will be no more updates for this month or till late april until app version is completed. I hope this has addressed all issues raised.
  - This update includes minor changes wind module area in reference to cater for differences in word lengths in multiple languages, windspeeddirection.php. daylight.php moon.php was updated.IE11 fix for feels icon area in temperature.php reference weather-watch forum. includes all optional files mentioned in cumulus and wxforum forums.

Major Fix Bug (15-Mar-2017)   - Thanks to Paul Wilman of http://paulwilman.com There was major flaw in the weather underground update for version 34E , so small but critical . The currentwuconditions.php had the update in seconds not minutes !! i.e 10 seconds it has now been adjusted to read 900 seconds = 15 minutes. Unfortunately and very sorry this may have caused you to get an a warning from weather undergound of exceeding api limit .This was only present in the non cron job version 34E .PLEASE UPDATE ASAP SORRY FOR ANY INCONVIENCE CAUSED.

Hello Good evening

this is purely optional and not a part of the dashboard template it is a part of the information download page.

you can now receive update notifications direct to your desktop using the push notification system if your OS supports it and permits .
Note it is purely optional and can be disabled or terminated when ever you wish .

This will help me push out the updates without having to post in all the forums and solely use the forums for resolving issues and exchanging ideas, I find that more constructive and
beneficial .

The notification is only received once is not repeated , i have used this system in another project and it can be really beneficial and not annoying if used right.

It will be only used for update notifications to template and I really hope I am nearing the end of releasing frequent updates as it is now been a long time in trying to
find the right balance for everyone , every language etc.

PLEASE NOTE IT IS PURELY OPTIONAL AND DOES NOT REPEAT THE NOTIFICATION EACH TIME YOU VISIT THE SITE IT WILL ONLY SHOW YOU A NEW NOTIFICATION ONCE IF AVAILABLE .

some open answers to questions received:
1. why do you not use google fonts ?
answer: I live in a country where services like google,social media etc get frequently shut down without warning for periods. three years ago I worked for a company who had really started to use various google services, like calendar,docs,drive,mail as a working tool internally. We sat there dumbfounded for three days not being able to use our email,online docs etc it was lesson learnt about using cloud services with out a contingency plan . these outages happen at ISP level so if I added google fonts to template and we START experiencing google blockages then there is a bottle neck albeit using a fallback css line will help but I dont design using google fonts.
ITS ANOTHER REASON I DONT FOCUS ON EXTERNAL RESOURCES weather resources, jquery CDN etc , they are fine when all is working well but need to have fallback scripts when things are not so good. apart from weather underground and earthquake-report.com are the only two external dependancies .


2.is HTTPS really important do I really need it..
answer YES going forward you will reap the benefits in many ways ,right NOW the importance and benefits are not so apparent but watch
for many future benefits , doing a useful google research search you will discover many future benefits that are not so obvious right now . ignore the skeptics

3.apps IOS
I hit a brickwall or 2 , resolving languages is giving me a headache , need to renew $99 a year developer membership , debating whether it is worth doing just to release a free app .undecided on this but not given up..

4.Paid IOS app on apple app store
I am not associated in anyway with this app or had any contact with the developer(does not respond to emails) they just used the icons from an old download version and added a credit to weather34.com,however it is a paid app which bugs me ! and if they eventually respond to the emails I will suggest they give a donation to a charity for fair usage of ICONS !!

  - Meteobridge users can now select which type of method they use , either via the Saratoga template method or Meteobridge direct method. Also big thank you to Vojta from Czech Republic for his assistance in ironing some teething issues with the meteobridge-direct output.
  - Czech language updated and some words abbreviated due to length of words in Czech language ,thanks to Vojta
  - A week of adding additional performance tweaks to many areas of the template , I cant emphasize enough goto https://gtmetrix.com and do some tests . Anyone who quotes there is no benefit or it is not possible is ignoring the benefits for other reasons. This template is optimized based on everything from the results . PS i dont use gzip and I still get 93% performance rating simply I have studied every possible enhancement and enhanced the code accordlingly.If you would like to know more please get in touch.Please note all possible enhancements have been made to template areas , other enhancements like .htaccess enhancements are NOT distributed in download.
  - Notification center now has UV-INDEX alert
  - Solar and UV-INDEX now show darkeness hours after sunset to sunrise based on calculation so its important to get your lat lon correct.
  - Further code changes to support upcoming PHP 7.2 .
  - New options added to easyweathersetup.php related to meteobridge-direct,main clock format. This update requires a new installation due to many files almost all php files having new additional code ,performance enhancements or removed code. Please do not mix with older versions and note the template no longer uses cron jobs or json files .

Hi Brian,
I just posted about PageSpeed this afternoon. On one hand these are really useful tools, on the other hand, they often give unusable advice. They are more like general guidelines. They give you list of things you should check and then decide yourself if this is what you want, something you forgot to do, or if it is intentionally done the way it is.

Just two examples, I tried my site. It got 85. And I looked at what it wanted me to do, here are just two examples:
1. it told me that the radar image is resized to a smaller size by CSS and that I should therefore resize the image directly. This is only half true. The problem is that it does not take into account the fact that the image does not have a fixed size, I use percentages for everything. Because I placed the image into a narrower column, it is resized to fit this column. However, a person with higher screen resolution or a person who places the block into a wider column, will see the image in its original size. If I resized it based on the suggestion of this script, for this person, it would be pixelated and lose the detail.

2. it didnt like some of the JS files, saying I should minify them or defer loading. This again is only sometimes applicable. I use some scripts from external sources and also, for example, for the jQuery script in particular (the one for which it marked me down the most), I use the most widely used CDN and so majority of users will already have this file cached in their computer given how widespread jQuery is. So they are loading 0kb. If I optimized it and placed it on my server, they will be loading it.

It is always wise to check these tools, but then you have to go through the results and not just follow blindly what it tells you to do - Im not suggesting you are doing this of course, but I know that some people might be tempted to think this is like a 100% correct and optimal way of doing things.

In conclusion - a very useful tool for everyone, but has to be used with care otherwise could do more harm than good.

more continuous strive to create the ideal user experience ,over the last week added and removed code to really make the use of the template a good user experience. you can see from the results below how with some patience and time you can achieve results . sometimes the smallest piece of code can have a surprising reasonable outcome.in this case simply DEFER scripts where ever possible has be done using <script DEFER type="text/livescript">
its that simple yet so effective see below .
all inline styles have been stripped out from the index.php(main page) again the results reflect it was worth while doing.

IOS app as pointed out by Andrea whats the point wasting your time when the template works as an app when you simply use the in built IOS add to homescreen. so simple code was added on it will simply remove the browser bar and create a icon on your home screen for iPhone/iPad .note only when you access via the homescreen icon will not display the browser bar .IOS does NOT permit the devices to use fullscreen since IOS8.

Hi -- I need to move my HOMEWEATHERSTATION dashboard template to a new server.  What's the best work flow?

1-Install new version on new server, copy settings1.php, menu.php, and chartswudata directory contents from old server?

--Or--

2-Copy the entire contents of the pws directory from the old server to the new server, then upgrade to the latest version?

BTW, where's the historical data kept?  I figured that the chartswudata directory has most of it, but are there other places? jsondata?

I don't plan to move servers very often, but I don't want to lose the data I've accumulated so far.
