Edit Whole Blocks Of UV/Solar
« on: March 31, 2025, 07:12:23 AM »
Just checking my record highs and found that on 17th April 2023 I had 23.6 hours of sunshine.

https://wx-watch.co.uk/weathercat/custom/records.html

As I live in the UK I think this is not likely!!

Looking at that day with the editor I see every entry for the few days around that date have a Solar of 850 and a UV of 2.4 for the whole 24 hours.

Is there a way I can batch edit these entries eg copy the whole days values form a few days before when they were correct and paste them into the few days with the wrong data?

Wouldn't it be better to just delete the bad entries rather than use made up data?

Yes - agreed - it would make more sense! But the in built editor seems to only allow me to edit one value at a time.

And as my station updates ever five minutes and there seem to be 3 x 24 hours period that need editing - would take a while!!

I really meant that if you find a way of bulk editing, then removing rather than adding dummy data would be better.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. The solar reading was stuck at one value for 24 hours. I could not find a way to bulk edit; it's one entry at a time. There is an alternative to using the Data Viewer/Editor.

If you are just editing a few items, the Data Viewer/Editor tool is a lot simpler to use. If you have a lot of items to edit, you may want to edit the appropriate .cat file using a text editor like BBEdit or the TextEdit app on your Mac. Do NOT use a word processor or web editor! You have an April 2023 .cat file called 4_WeatherCatData.cat which you can open and edit.

If you decide to edit a .cat file, be sure to read the section in the WeatherCat Manual just before the Appendices called WeatherCat and Data (Page 180 in the current manual) before you start. If you decide to go this route, I suggest you duplicate the file first, so that if your editing messes up the file, you can always go back to the original and try again.

When you are done, be sure to delete the 2023 4_WeatherCatData.cat.hrs file before you start WeatherCat.

Like I said, the Data Viewer/Editor is simpler to use but I can go faster in a text editor.

Forgot to mention to simplify my editing, I didn't try to copy data from another day as you proposed. I just went in and replaced all the Solar entries that should have been 0 with a zero.

And for me, after I fixed the data for that day, I discovered another day that was now the Sunniest day, which also needed edited for the same reason, and so on.
