A new JSON format (experimental) is out for describing tropical cyclones. NWS is looking for feedback / comments. Details here:

Those of us living in W and SW would probably be interested in the "Eastern Pacific" disturbances, ie: those spawned off the western coast of Mexico and USA.

It applies. From the PDF file:

The National  Hurricane Center will produce this file whenever tropical cyclone forecasts are being made by the NWS in the Atlantic,  eastern North Pacific, and Central Pacific basins.
