Post by: galfert on July 10, 2019, 08:10:42 PM: This is a game that ebay sellers play. I don't have all the exact details so some of what I'm about to say may be a bit off. But as I understand it it goes something like this.

If you look at that ebay listing it says that they sold 89 of them. The last one sold in Feb about 5 months ago. They most likely ran out of stock. To discourage people from buying it they raise the price. They don't want to delete the listing because they would lose their standing in search results and for previous items sold. Maybe they think that they will get more of them in the near future and it looks better if they can keep all the previous stats that also help search results. So if they get more stock in then the lower the price to a reasonable selling price.

I'd say a major missing piece is the wind vane.

That model pulls wind direction info from the internet.

Listings pop up once it is revealed so they make ridiculous listings trying to get the traffic and maybe even some pre orders with final price to be revealed later.
