Title: The Amazing Blitzcam
Post by: miraculon on August 04, 2014, 11:38:32 AM
Just for complete silliness, I have my Raspberry Pi PiCam gazing at the RED display. It is a little fuzzy due to the proximity to the display. It is updated under cron at once/minute. My normal Linux box wgets it from the Pi then uploads it.

Oops, having some upload issues and the dreaded .jpg.NN problem...
Working on it...

I have that lens laying around somewhere...
Another "move" victim.
I think that I got it working OK, seems that I had a bit of a snail-like race condition between the Pi and the Linux box. I put a sleep command in the get script on the Linux box to give the Pi a chance to finish up.
I am not much of a programmer, just a "monkey on the typewriter"...

I found the lens, but it was a "-2". I found this suggestion for using "+2" reading glasses, or a clip-on macro lens for iPhone. I have the reading glasses propped up and it seems to help quite a bit.

I'll figure out some kind of attachment method.

I removed the frame and cut each side of the lens so that they were flat. The lens turned 90° fit perfectly to the height of the PiCam. I hot melt glued it into place. The posted image is now using this +2 diopter reading glasses fix.

Thanks Mike (Cutty) for the reminder and suggestion.
