Temperature not updating after new sensor fitted
« on: September 05, 2024, 04:47:40 AM »
Hello, this is my first post so please excuse me if I'm asking a question that's already been answered.

I was recently given a 5 year old Froggit WS2320 and WS69 with no readout for Temp/Humidity or Solar/UV.
After some advice from the previous owner and a search through your forum I put in a new Temp/Humidity sensor from Aliexpress and all four readings came back to life.
However, the outdoor temperature reading is static, never changing, updating only after a reset of both outdoor and indoor hardware.

I have had a good search through the forum about my problem and I have tried,
Fresh batteries
Soft reset of WS69
Hard reset of WS69
Reset of WS2320
Cleaning and reseating sensor cables
Cleaning both sides of WS69 circuit board and protecting with silicone grease
Disconnecting the superconductor (in case low voltage was affecting the transmission)
Moving the units closer together

None of these have made the temperature update, except for the initial reading on 'pairing' after reset which seems to be accurate.
Each time I reset the hardware the temp updates to the correct temperature, then remains at that value.
The humidity seems to be accurate and updates frequently, and so does the dew point and all other sensors are working fine.

I'm not ready to give up on it yet, I'm hoping I've overlooked something!
Any help gratefully accepted!

Russell

which sensor did you exactly get from AliExpress - they are just a marketplace like Amazon ?
What was that part/item ?
Was it from the Ecowitt store or some other like Misol ?
Maybe just what you got wasn't 100% working either ... - things sometimes go wrong ...

It was a Misol one
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006013591429.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order_detail_item.3.6c9af19cNCKFVi

The Ecowitt store was out of stock at the time but was a very similar price.

the spare part should be from the manufacturer, Fine Offset that is - but still, it could also be defective.

I suggest you send an email to support@ecowitt.com
describe your situation, what you all did - and what now the symptoms are and ask for their advice.
