Title: Battery Backup
Post by: Silversword on April 24, 2015, 04:00:16 PM
Hi All,

I was just thinking about this type of battery pack for a backup for the Red system http://www.maketecheasier.com/sabrent-dual-usb-power-bank-giveaway/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=24042015 (http://www.maketecheasier.com/sabrent-dual-usb-power-bank-giveaway/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=24042015).

Wonder if this might also be used to filter out any ripples from a power source with a pure DC supply to boot.  Also can this type of unit be charging with a standard charger that comes with smart phones or tablets as it is being used?

Might be interesting if this might work to reduce another noise source.

Hey Stan...
I use 3 CyberPower 1500PFCLCD for my stuff...PC's, monitors, routers, cams, BT, etc... they'll drive it all about an hour or so, more if I turn stuff off... and the switching or boosting is not noticeable ... they're good!
I initially paid somewhat less for them, but:  http://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500PFCLCD-Sinewave-Compatible-Mini-Tower/dp/B00429N19W/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1429919288&sr=1-2&keywords=cyberpower
They're a whole different breed than a simple battery... .

Cheers!
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.  I do have a huge UPS by APC that has over 4 KVA.  It will keep my weather and other systems up for about 6 hours or so.

The part I was thinking is to place something like this between the UPS and the Red system just to provide a pure DC instead of a Power Supply that might have some ripples to cause some noise.

Just a thought as I still have some ripples coming from the power supply that I would like to see less of.
