Good thought process Randy. Looked in the processes but it wasn't there. Another thing I forgot to mention is I installed all the the previous version of VC++ (2008 and up). Also installed the latest Framework .NET 4 along with the older versions.

Look in task manager processes and look for FFMPEG running. If its running end process and try again.
I've had issues with FFMPEG before but it was stopping Sebectec from running. Only thing I can think of right now.

Have you completely closed webcam 7 no longer in task box. Right click and exit. Exit out then restart as administrator? I have to do that every time at least once before it will finally work. Make sure nothing else is running that could interfere also.

Yes, tried that but did it again just to be sure. No luck. :-(

I would do a re-install of the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (32-bit)direct link. The X86 is version I installed.

If doesn't work uninstall all versions first. Just grasping for straws and do a reboot.

Check to see if the moonware.ffmpeg.dll file is loaded in X86 and not 64. If it's not move it to X86. Since its looking for a file it might not be loaded in the correct directory.

I forgot to update. Ran out of time. I tried what was suggested and still no connection. Back to the drawing board. :-(

What does the error say on WC7?

So everything else on WC7 is running fine but you can't connect another Hikvision?

Im actually just trying to connect to a single source. My old logi and webcamxp (2007) were installed on the weather pc but both have been removed to upgrade the the Hiki.

I installed the latest version of webcamxp, wc7, and netcam studio to see if any would connect but all fail. The log from netcam studio is really good and you can see the connection error on the pic.

Its very odd to say the least. :-)

Could be. But I run another PC with WinXP used strictly for all my lightning and tide generations where the camera connects fine. Only problem with that machine is its a bit under powered and the resources were maxed during the connection.

You are connecting to the RTSP main stream? Other options are available like H264 but the only one that works for me is RTSP.

Chris,

If you are getting the error with Netcam, try emailing them, Steve has helped me with similar issues. Are you using the same network connection for all of the PC's? That maybe the issue. Like I said, Steve at Netcam should be able to help you. Normally he responds pretty quick.

I hope this helps.

OK, guys, I'll apologize right away for being a worry wart.

I got my camera today, along with the tp-link POE injector.

Excitement as I read through things, and screech, the injector voltage is 48 v. DC!

The camera documentation of course says that it needs like 5 volts.

Does the camera hardware step down to the needed voltage, or did I get the wrong POE injector?

I'm anxious to try this but after waiting to buy the thing don't need a smoke test as it's last hurrah here on earth.

So I'm asking just to get reassurance to plug it in or don't and I'm glad you asked for a response.

Heh ... I had the same panic for a few moments, Dale. ](*,) It'll supply the proper voltage...

Thanks Mike,
I've never used one of these gizmos and while I give steering diodes and zeners a lot of credit, didn't know how smart these new fangled things are and leave it to me to smoke my new toy and cry a few months til the next one came along.

I assume this injector supports 802.3af.... The process isn't quite as simple as the injector nails the device with it's maximum output voltage. 802.3af is up to 48VDC, the actual voltage and current delivered is negotiated between the camera and the injector (so long as both support 802.3a/f) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet.

Thanks Joe, I will send directly to that address and see what happens. I took a screenshot of the Hiki. Image clarity may not be the best due to compression but attached is the view. You can almost make out the cross on top of the church. I bet if I would have purchased the 6mm instead of the 4mm it would have been a little more visible. :)

Ok, email sent to Steve at webcamXP. Instead of explaining everything to him in detail through email I just linked him to this thread. Will be interesting to see what ideas he may have to resolve this problem.
