Both software programs are not required. I had my Hikvision working with WC7 and WCXP the first day I got it without netcam studio installed.

Off topic. The latest version of webcamxp private does not seem to allow you to display viewers that are currently connected in the overlay editor. I dont even think there is an editor. Am i missing something? I always like to see how many viewers are viewing the image. The older versions allow you to do this and place it anywhere. (Scratching my head)

I sent an email to support 4 hours ago explaining how the 32bit version fixed webcam7 problem.
Haven't received any response yet but its in Scandinavia.

But did notice they now have pasted everywhere on download files area "In order to connect RTSP Sources, please install Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (32-bit) version." Don't remember it being there before. I have x64 and several x86 versions which I believe are 32 bit but go into the X86 folder. The one missing is required 2013 version.

You may of avoided the issue originally if you started with 32 bit Webcam XP free. I don't know, I started out with netcam studio 64 and webcam7 64. With that said hopefully 2013 32 bit C++  is the fix.

I had 64 bit wcxp. I do know for a fact that with netcam studio you have to get 32 bit since it supports the Hikvision's RTSP. (Real Time Streaming Protocol)

What I suspected with webcam7 is true even cutty was correct just read, except for one thing I didn't have a clue when I originally downloaded the software back a month ago what they were talking about for RSTP connections. I thought I was doing a HTTP connection at port 80 at the time.

So got a response from WebcamXP support, they had me check some files and looks like the culprit was the fact I didn't install the  Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (32-bit). I do have 32 bit C++ but not the required 2013 version.
So by installing 32 bit of Netcam Studio the required libraries / dll's are included, so what webcam 7 was doing to work it locates filters needed in Netcam Studio's 32 bit X86 folder.

My issue with webcamXP company is they should bundle the required libraries / dll's with the software and not leave it up to non camera savvy people like me to figure it out.

#-o Your calling BS? Its not about netcam its about getting the 32 bit version of drivers somewhere and it doesn't matter where XP, netcam or whatever. As soon as you installed a 32bit anything mission accomplished. If your saying you ran a 64 bit software and it worked prior to a 32 bit all it means is you installed the correct dlls/libraries through another software or 2013 c++ redistribution.
I could never get the 64 to connect. The 32 on the other hand fired right up.

All I'm saying is that when I got the Hikvision I had 64 bit wc7 installed. I never installed the 32 bit before I got the Hikvision. So it worked right out the box with no 32 bit installed whatsoever. I downloaded net cam 32 bit after I had it working just for giggles to see if I could get it connected and it worked. So I'm still calling BS since the 32 bit was never installed on my PC when I connected the Hikvision. Still remains a mystery.

Ok, finally getting around to posting a link. Thoughts, opinions, recommendations welcome. Went pretty smooth. It's night and can't see much. Check back during the day. So far I'm impressed.

Thanks Ryan. No, that wasnt me, lol. I may be out there this weekend though. Im running Win7 with Webcam 7. Seems to be pretty solid. The only problem I had was whenever I rebooted the PC the gateway would vanish. In other words, it needed to fixed. I found this little command that resets your tcpip settings back to default and it worked like a charm. Gateway is holding now. Here it is if anyone needs it.

From command prompt enter this:
netsh int ip reset

Looks good Chris.  =D> What software are you using?

I may do that Ryan. I currently have it set at 1280 due to bandwidth limitations. Going to suggest an increase on the internet package.

Just a tip for this Hikvision cam. In the advanced configuration settings select image, video adjustment and change to 2048 x 1536. Man what a difference and wider view too.

The 1980 made my view kind of crooked (might be the terrain here) but now it looks straight to me after the 2048 x 1536 change.

You can see stars twinkling.

If you are using webcam7 then this option should be available right above your sources on the right. Its called the overlay editor.

Click anywhere on the image and erase what comes up. Type this in Viewers: $(connected) then hit enter.
