Topic: Ecowitt New Station Hardware vs Ambient Weather 2021

Looking at purchasing my first station
Few of my special requirements would be AirQuality Sensor Outdoor,
Water temperature, and the ability to share the data without requiring a login.


I’ve narrowed it down to Ecowitt HP2551 &  Ambient Weather WS2000.

The Ecowitt is using a newer style 2 sided hardware.
Is there any advantage to this over the 3 sided unit from Ambient Weather?
What weather services support other temperature sensors suck as water temperature probe?

If it snows where you are at, the 2 sided sensor array fairs better as it is less likely to be a problem for the anemometer. Otherwise there is no difference.

I could have missed this, but am I able to share data directly from the Ecowitt.net
without having to require someone to login? I would like to be able to share a water temperature sensor
with others, without requiring a login.

Ecowitt.net requires free account login to access data. No weather station is required to create account and see any public station.

Ambientweather.net allows for data access by anyone without an account. But some features are missing if you do not log in. For example alerts and unit preferences can't be set without an account.

You can also opt to set up your own personal website with the help of the right software. Then data can be made available to anyone without an account as it would be your own website.
