Title: 02-Jan-2020 - Forum updated to SMF 2.0.17
Post by: saratogaWX on January 02, 2020, 02:28:05 PM
Sorry for the lack of notice.. the new version was required to address several issues, including being able to better support PHP 7.2+.

The error log was filling at a prodigious rate, causing the forum to time out on some requests.

As a side-effect of the update to SMF 2.0.17, everybody had to logon again.. sorry about that too.

We'll have another longer outage in the future as I move the forum from shared hosting to a VPS I can manage.. I'll let you know when that will be.

Best regards,
Ken

And, with the 2.0.17 update, some of the plugins also need updating.  Yes, I know the 'Like' displays are duplicated...

Also have to update the PM Attachment/PM Inline Attachement sources to clear the error log of some reoccurring error messages.

Plus.. the Google Member map needs a major overhaul.

Sigh.. at least the forum is working ok otherwise after our long DB debacle thanks to ionos shared hosting.  After these are fixed, I'll move on to provisioning a VPS for us to move to.

Ken, stay the course. I am sure that many of us would have thrown in the towel and gave up on the problems you are attempting to resolve. You deserve all the credit you get!

Thanks for all the work Ken, let me know if you need any help with the server side, I am a Linux admin type and have been running my own virtual server on the internet for 10+ years.  Happy to help (I also know a bit of MySQL).

Thanks for all the support!  I'm working some lingering issues after the upgrade yesterday and still have some error-log issues to fix.  I'll be working on it today.
