I have been using WeatherLink, Weather Display, and just downloaded Cumulus.

Each uses serial port 6.  Of course, if one weather program is running, I have to shut it down before another can use the required port 6.

Is there a way for two different programs to run off of more than one port?  Asked another way, why is only one port available for weather station software - or have I just not learned how?  A related question:  Is there a way for two weather programs to share the same port?

There is a separate Board on this forum dedicated to VP Tools:
You'll find lots of information to answer your questions.
NOTE OF CAUTION: The developer of all of these SoftWx tools (also the moderator for the above board) no longer supports them nor does he participate in this forum any longer. The SoftWx tools are great but do have their limitations due to software that has not kept up with the evolution of the Davis firmware currently being used. See the threads in the above link to dig deeper into these subjects.

Just to complete this thread, yes you can and yes I did, using Virtual VP as suggested.  Thanks.  It works great despite all the cautions about potential incompatibilities with later software/firmware.  I guess my stuff is old enough to still work.   And all of this is compatible with Windows 10 as well which is a bonus.

I'm running Cumulus, WeatherLink, and Virtual Weather Station off my Davis VantageVUE console.
