Meteobridge Nano no wifi connection
(1/1)
andyfree:
I have read many postings regarding similar problems to what I'm having but I am still struggling.
This is my setup.
Davis Vantage Pro 2, with internal batteries.
Meteobridge Nano with black wire.
Wifi connection to my home router For those in the UK its a TalkTalk WiFi Hub 2.
VP2 is about 3m from the WiFi router.
This setup has worked before and I have been able to upload weather data to various sites. To be honest, my uploaded data is something I don't check that often so I don't know when it stopped working. I have had fibre installed to my house and a replacement WiFi router installed, same make as original.
I can only assume it the setup of the new router thats the problem. Routers are not my best area of expertise!
Powering up the VP2 with the Meteobridge Nano installed, I get a steady red LED for 5 seconds, then continually flashing. No Wifi connection to my router?
I have tried pressing the little button on the Meteobridge to do a factory reset, press and hold button and release on the 5th blink, (this is the very rapid blinking) but till no connection.
I have logged into the router, it has both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz. I can see other devices connected but no Meteobridge.
So I am lost !
Thanks for any help.

I don't have any of your equipment, so this is just a guess. :D
If you got a new WiFi router, unless the broadcast "name" of the wifi network AND password of the new system is identical to that of the old Wifi, your weather equipment isn't going to work since it doesn't know how to connect properly.
So investigate that first. Start here: https://meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/Meteobridge_NANO
... go down to the section head "Connectivity" and use that as a guide to update your device with your WiFi security details.

Thanks for help and suggestions.
I followed the guide with out any luck, then did the push button reset thing on the Meteobridge Nano several times.
Suddenly I got a steady red LED (as opposed to the flashing one) which means it has a Wifi connection. I can only assume it was the timing of pressing the button after 2,3 or 5 flashes to reset the meteobridge. I never had to change any settings on the Wifi router.
Now its time to write down some detailed notes of what I think I did in case it happens again, then to start sending data to Weather underground.
For some reason, the Meteobridge Nano is not showing up as a connected device on my Wifi router and yet when I use config.meteobridge.com I get access to the meteobridge web interface pages, so it must be connected !? I'm confused here.
Also, the the web interface shown on the wiki notes has a Live Data tab, on my web interface I don't have this tab ?
Hoping for more answers from the experts out there.
Mattk:
Changing/updating routers has obviously initially changed WiFi (IP) connection settings. Pushing reset buttons without apparently understanding what was required hasn't helped things. Have you read the following especially with regard the Connecting, Initial Setup and First login. Would also suggest the Reset section.

The fundamentals of the Nano setup is on startup the Nano provides itself as an Access Point (AP) to which can be directly connected to via WiFi into and which you can then connect/setup the config to your router's AP. The Nano AP shuts down after a short while but there is plenty of time to config the main Nano WiFi connection.
