Cache Animated Gif's

Has anyone come across a good solution for resizing/caching animated gif images?  I don't think Mike Challis' Image Handler script supports animated gifs, and I'm looking for a solution to cache a 9MB image and trim it down to size so my users don't have to wait 30 seconds for it to load.
