Title: Ford Weather Factory
Post by: miraculon on May 28, 2018, 08:29:28 AM
In the most recent newsletter that I get as a Ford retiree, they have an interesting article and video about their new facility.

Here is a video (that is embedded in the linked article). The potato chip bags bursting at altitude is entertaining.

Very interesting, thanks for posting.  If only real winter and snow storms were that easy to create and stop...

Enjoy,

The U.S.Army tested tanks in -56-degree F chamber at Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) with the  outside summer air temperatures at 105+! It was said the power lines running from Hoover Dam into the site were thermally 'glowing' in the infrared range due to the chambers' power consumption. Today, GM shares operates their test facility at YPG.

Oh it's really interesting, I didn't even expect it that can happen at different temperatures and heights! Cool!!)
