WS-2000 Rainfall Rate?
« on: February 02, 2019, 04:08:32 PM »
HI,

I upgraded from a Ws-1001 to a WS-2000. Am wondering how to view the rainfall rate on this console. On the Ws-1001, you could toggle between daily/weekly/yearly/rainfall rate on the console. Has this function been lost? The rainfall rate gets reported to wunderground, but I can't seem to find it on my console.  Thanks in advance.

Hourly on the right side is your rain rate.

You can also press the UP/Down arrows button 3 times and see the graphs and go to the Rainfall graph where you can see Daily and Hourly (rate) graphs. To see the graphs you must be running at least firmware 1.3.5.

It is though a different type of rain rate. It is an "actual rain rate" that you may not be used to that reports the previous hour rainfall rather than predictive or instantaneous rain rate. The WS-2902A console or WS-1900 console (which are compatible and you can run simultaneously with your WS-2000 display) does display "instantaneous rain rate" instead.

UPDATE: Ambient Weather has stated that they will soon had a firmware update to add both types of rainfall reporting to the WS-2000.

I just posted a long list of recommended changes to the WS-2000. This rain rate issue was one of the things I had noticed. You can read more about it here:

I recently purchased a WS-2000 display (have a ws-2902). Is there a way to change the default rain display? Currently shows daily rain as the main value. The 2902 allows changing the main display although only 1 value would be displayed at a time.

Thanks

Right to the right of the daily rain is the event, hourly, weekly and monthly. What else did you want to show on the display? It's all right there without pressing buttons.

I am aware of the list. I have the display ~3' away from where I sit and the larger rain # is easier to view at a glance from that distance. I would prefer the "event" rain value as the default. Sounds like "daily rain" on the larger digits is something that is fixed in the firmware.

Appreciate the response.

You can't change anything in this part of the display other than to change units. But it sounds like a good idea. I would recommend submiting that as a feedback for future firmware update.
