other tips for you chuck if your aware then use them as reminder
1. use AA energizer lithium batteries good for 1 year and as of thursday the hub has been updated with a power save mode so you could get aprox two years out of one set for a piece of hardware..
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Ultimate-Lithium-AA-Batteries/dp/B000IWW1G6dont use duracell or anything else these Energizer-Ultimate-Lithium-AA are tested and proven ..
2. whilst its recommended to locate the air sensor in a shaded environment but be aware this can have an adverse effect on humidity/dewpoint readings during colder winter months where shaded areas get no sunlight and remain damp for longer periods . the sensor is very very sensitive to nearby microclimate. long periods of siting in a damp area will pegged the humidity at 100% .
get it out in the open in a shield (a good shield design with 4-7 inches of space surrounding to allow for air flow)or use some form of light reflector to protect form direct sunlight .
out of all the ideas i tried homemade this was the best based on finding a balance for lightning and temperature positioning this tracks main station really nicely.obviously if you have a stevenson type then you plop in there..
3.SKY has to be 100% mounted on a solid pole/mast without any swaying !! i use a short almost solid plastic mast tubing filled with sand to reduce and dampen vibrations from the building. its a different type of sensor when measuring rain and wind to the traditional methods we have become accustom to. false rain can be an issue if you don't pay attention to the importance of solid mounting . a poorly mounted sky will give you misleading data.
4. birds will find it attractive and probably use it as a perch and possibly trigger false rain , placing a nearby reflective objective will deter them again i do this very effectively.
need any more info join the weatherflow community forum there is tons of information to digest . from apps, software, templates, siting ideas and anything you can find relative.
dont forget they provide each owner with a website display that uses websocket technology at no additional cost with wind data updated at 2-3 second intervals lightning as it happens etc
https://smartweather.weatherflow.com/share/1200 thats mine
running and testing power save mode so wind data is every 10 seconds without power save mode enable its 2-3 seconds
edit just saw your post above after i finished... shipping : yes any day now and more improvements made yesterday...
