Title: Trying to install GW1000 API Driver
Post by: KD7GFL on August 05, 2020, 08:29:23 PM
Trying to install the GW1000 API driver according to the instructions:

https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-gw1000

I am stuck on Step 5.  When I try to test the driver using the provided Command it doesn't work.  Any ideas on what I need to do?

Ok so after unsuccessfully trying to get WeeWX installed using the GW1000 API driver a few days ago and not getting any feedback, I "cleaned the chalkboard" so to speak this afternoon and reformatted my SD card and started from scratch.  I didn't figure out if I had done something wrong, missed a step, or a combination of both, but this time I think I got it working.

I installed the Apache Web server as directed in the WeeWX guide and I am able to view my data which updates every 5 minutes (have to do a manual refresh.)

Is there any other way to verify WeeWX is working properly using the GW1000 driver?

Try the following:

sudo weewxd /home/weewx/weewx.conf
or
sudo weewxd /etc/weewx/weewx.conf

Use one or the other depending what method of installation was used.  Also you might need to be in the directory that "weewxd" is installed to execute the command.

I guess this is a good sign:

It does look like a good sign.  Does the your data match up?

It does I think except for lightning data.  I can see lightning data when it loops, but it did not populate to the browser.  Is that an issue?

First I don't use this driver. All I can say is the mapping correct in weewx.conf file? Is your seasons skin pulling the lightning  data from the database?  You can post your question also @ https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/weewx-user

Congratulations. It looks like it's working for you.
I don't have the lightning detector so I know little about it. But it may be that the Seasons template has not yet been modified for lightning.
And BTW, you don't have to install Apache to see the Seasons page.
