I am trying to use the info from my Ambient Weather station and have it in the top left corner of my website. See link for what I am using now. http://www.artisticimages.com/categories/live-hummingbird-cam  I want it to be something like that, 265px wide but use my API/info. can anyone suggest something I can use to do that?

Thanks, John

So you connected your Ambient weather station to Weather-Display software and are looking to use this software to generate the widget?
http://www.weather-display.com/index.php

This sub-board you posted in is only for Weather-Display software.
EDIT: This thread has been moved from Weather Display board. This is not Weather-Display software related.

Or are you only using just Ambient hardware?
If so then you can take a look at Ambientweather.net API documentation to do your own thing:
https://help.ambientweather.net/help/api-documentation/

Or you could upload to Weather Underground and use their API documentation to do your own thing:
https://www.wunderground.com/member/api-keys
WU used to provide a widget but I think it is no longer supported. Perhaps others can comment.

Or you could expand the capabilities of your hardware with software like Weather-Display (or other software options) and then use them to populate your website.

Hi John,

I use a lookalike fake one for WU because theirs is http: (insecure content)

I created a SVG file for the image using Inkscape added the output as inline <svg> tags and then added the variables with <?php $code_variable; ?>.

Worked a treat.

Hi John,

An easier solution my be to use Anole's wxgraphics script. Learning Inkscape took me ages.

the source and instructions are here: https://saratoga-weather.org/scripts-legacy.php and there is a lot of help in this forum on how to apply them.

Dave

I have just added Anole's script to the signature at the bottom of my post, it can be added as an image on a website.

The link to it on mine is https://www.wraxallweather.co.uk/wxgraphic/wxgraphic.php?type=banner_big

The <svg> approach looks like this: https://www.wraxallweather.co.uk/wuMenuBox.php
But you need to know the svg editor to understand all the gibberish in the data image.

Code: [Select]
<?php
//include_once("common.php");          // for language translation
//include_once("Settings.php");
include_once("testtags.php");
?>

</head>
<body>
<?php
$tempstr
number_format((($temperature * (9/5)) + 32),1).'&deg;F / '.$temperature.'&deg;C';  // 50.4°F / 10°C
$windstr $dirlabel.' '.$avgspd.' mph / '.number_format(($avgspd 1.60934), 1).' km/h';
?>

the source and instructions are here: https://saratoga-weather.org/scripts-legacy.php and there is a lot of help in this forum on how to apply them.

so I want to do something like this but with my info.

a href="https://saratoga-weather.org/">
<img src="https://saratoga-weather.org/wxsticker/sticker.php"
alt="Current weather conditions in Saratoga, California"
title="Current weather conditions in Saratoga, California"
width="150" height="150" /></a>

See my hummingbird page, in between babies right now. but you can see where I want to put the info from my PWS.

Hi John,

Download Anole's script from the Saratoga link and upload everything in a directory /wxgraphics on your website

Then read the PDF file on the Saratoga site on how it works and how to place the variables on an image.

When you have a link like I showed in the last post, you can add the link as an <img tag on your page where you wants it.

If I was placing it on my page, my image would be:

Code: [Select]
<img alt="alt banner" height="65" src=" https://www.wraxallweather.co.uk/wxgraphic/wxgraphic.php?type=banner_big" width="200">

although I would drop the "https://www.wraxallweather.co.uk" bit and just add it as "/wxgraphics/wxgraphic.php?type=banner_big"

As it will be on your site not mine.

I hope this helps.

All this assumes that the weather data is on your site so no API is involved.

An API could download a JSON file of weather data to your site which could be read with php code, but that is opening a very big can of worms.

https://ambientweather.net/dashboard/60133f29dc5b12483d89c252ff39c2e9
https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KCAOCEAN408

Do you upload weather data to any of these site?

And if so, what software are you using?

I am using an ambient weather ws-2902b it uploads the data to those sites. I have API's from all 3 but, I cant figure any of that out either. I was hoping to just be able to customize something using one of the API's and json like you said but that is not straight forward at all.

I take it that you upload via a device and not upload with software on a PC?

If so you are stuck with the API's from these websites unless you know a lot of php and can read the output from their API and use your own web Image.

right, upload is right from the device.

and looks like I can do everything i want with the API's IF I know how!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eKCnKXI9xnoMGRRzOL1xPCBihNV2rOet08qpE_gArAY/edit
https://ambientweather.docs.apiary.io/#

I was looking at getting a Davis Vintage Pro 2 but with everything I wanted it would have been $800, plus then they wanted a monthly fee for weather link and that's when I said no way. I got all the same from ambient for $160 and no month fees.

John,

The image you showed in your second post is widget controlled by the site you got it from.

An API is intended to download some data from a PWS website, which you can use to to display your data on a website with php or Javascript.

I load data from a Davis VP2 with a PC using Weather Display software and a USB data logger link.

The result gives me more control of what you want to display, and I can write stuff like this.

I think you are either stuck with these widgets, or take a crash course in php.

Dave.
