My Davis VP2 station is located in Cheshire, England and has been operational since May 2009. 2023 was the wettest I’ve recorded. 8” more than the previous wettest in 2012 with more than 48” of rain falling.
I was pretty sure 2024 would be drier but so far it's proving even wetter. See the chart below for comparative rainfall. I've also included 2018 which was the driest year I’ve recorded.
Look at mid-June last year compared to 2018. Very similar rainfall but then the heavens opened for the rest of the year and continuing into the first half of this year.
Of course a lot can change in the remainder of 2024 so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
I extracted the relevant data from my dayfile.txt generated by the original Cumulus 1 program using Microsoft Access and exported it into an Excel spreadsheet. I got the idea watching the UK Met Office videos on YouTube.
