Weather underground offline 5 monts
« on: June 29, 2022, 05:08:40 PM »
Hi All.
My station is offline for the last 5 monts.
I have deleted my account and registered it a few times.
Changed e mail address .
I also contacted weather underground and have had no reply .
Can anybody give me some advice.
Also I am registered with Weathercloud and have no problems at all.
Sorry this is my first post to this form
Thanks Frannor

I do not have any advice other than to just forget about wunderground.  They've effectively have killed the PWS format.  Some have no issues at all, but most (like us) are having more and more difficulty.  I still send data to WU. But when it fails (often), I stopped caring.

Hi Diaali.
Thank you for your reply.
I thought I was the only one with the problem thanks for your input.When I signed up for the first time it worked perfectly and I never had a glitch.
Thanks Frannor.

Hi Frannor, welcome to the forum.  Have you confirmed your station ID and key in whatever you are using to upload?  They must match what you have listed at Weather Underground under "Member Settings" - "Manage Devices".  The password used by your software is no longer the Weather Underground password you use to log in and is now the key listed under "Manage Devices".  Weather Underground support seems to be gone.  Years ago they would respond to emails but that seems to have stopped a while ago.

This is why I switched to PWS weather.

I still send to WU, but PWS is definitely more reliable. It's what I use on my "nearby weather stations" web page.

I agree Jasiu. Nice site you have. My only complaint is the 30 minute delay in postings that are required when using a Vantage Pro 2 station.

Is that more a matter of the software you are using? I have a VP2 connected to a Meteobridge and update to PWS once a minute.

Thanks for the compliment!  :grin:

Yes, I use Weatherlink. That is the reason for the delay. I am squeamish about using different software for fear of messing up my records. Wonder if I can use both Weatherlink and Meteobridge?

PaulMy, I upload my weather station to the Davis Weatherlink site. PWS Weather has instructions on how to link with Weatherlink. They make it pretty simple

@Frannor,
I am not familiar with the direct http or get update as I use both CumulusMX and WiFiLogger to update my WU accounts, but if you use http://192.168.0.1 isn't that just a local IP and not a remote like WU?

Enjoy,
Paul

@JECO,
I guess I need to become more familiar with such things :oops:  I like and have been using PWS Weather for over 13 years https://www.pwsweather.com/station/pws/komoka  and https://www.pwsweather.com/station/pws/komoka2 and didn't know you can use Weatherlink to update and instead have been using Cumulus and WiFiLogger.  There is no option on my Weatherlink.com Upload settings for PWS Weather.  And the PWS Weather site site says:
Quote
Davis does not currently support sending data to PWSweather.com with any of their WeatherLink products. Please let Davis know you want this capability by contacting their support at support@davisnet.com. Some software which supports sending data to PWSweather.com can be used with a variety of hardware. A list is available in the above section “How to post data to PWSweather.”

Enjoy,
Paul

Paul, if you go to the PWS site and click on FAQs in the upper right corner, scroll to PPWS setup and then "how to setup a WeatherlinkIP device, you can read how to do it.

Hope this helps. As I have said, the disadvantage is that the uploads are every 30 minutes. I would prefer every one or two minutes, but that is not possible apparently.

I hope there is a workaround but per the page Paulmy posted, not possible.

Pws weather is posting data from Madis, aka CWOP. So if I go to my dashboard (map) on pws weather, I see my station that uploads to pws weather directly and I can see my other station that posts to pws weather directly plus my 3 stations that post to Madis which includes 2 of my stations that post directly to pws weather. Talk about overkill!

What is interesting though, the rainfall pws weather is “pulling” from Madis is wrong!
