Have you tried the VP tags?

Code: [Select]

VP soil temp/moisture/extra temperature/humidity
==================================================

%VPsoilmoisture%............Davis VP soil moisture
%VPsoilmoisture2%...........Davis VP soil moisture, # 2 sensor
%VPsoilmoisture3%...........Davis VP soil moisture, # 3 sensor
%VPsoilmoisture4%...........Davis VP soil moisture, # 4 sensor
%soilmoistpercent%..........Davis VP soil moisture expressed as a percentage (100% is saturated)

If they don't work, you might need to contact Brian by e-mail.

BTW: I can't access your site URL in Edge or Chrome.

Thanks a lot Vasco !
I have tried: it doesn't work
I will ask to Brian to add ecowitt soil moisture sensors among tags (if possible)
Thanks again for help !

Hello Vasco

I have upgraded WD to latest version
and tried to use VPsoilmoisture tags
It works with ecowitt sensors:
But the problem are values:
1st sensor : ecowitt shows 81% - WD shows 68%
2nd sensor: ecowitt shows 66% - WD shows 38%
I think the only possibility is to add ecowitt soilmoisture sensor among tags.
I wish to learn your opinion
Thanks !

I have upgraded WD to latest version

Did Brian suggest you did this?

I don't know enough about it, but I think you should show Brian the differing values.

Hi Vasco !

I have sent a message to Brian concerning VP working in latest WD version but with values not comparable with ecowitt
I haven't received an answer.
Hopefully in the future Brian could add ecowitt soil moisture sensors in tags list.

Cargo - I have two soil moisure sensors as well. 1 will show up, but the second will not. I am using the Ecowitt API. How did you get the second one to work? I also noticed the number is off. What version WD are you running? I am on 10.37S150.

For example my ecowitt reading is 44% however WD shows it as 112. I think there is a conversion missing. Ok. After researching... WD displays that reading in Centipoise (cb). You would need to convert it to a %. Based on what I found, cb is a 0-200 measurement. 0 means saturated and 200 means dry. So the lower your number the more saturated the ground is.

Calculation:
Current Number / 200 = X
X * 100 = Y
100 - Y = %

In my case:
112/200 = 0.56
0.56 * 100 = 56
100 - 56 = 44%

Thanks a lot for your answer codyfun22 !
At the moment I am using 10.37S151 version.
I am not using API to download data from ecowitt but through Ip address
(I haven't managed to download through API in past)
At the moment sensor 1 is showing 120 % and second sensor 130 % (in WD tags)
If I follow your instructions final result should be : 60% for 1st and 65% for 2nd one
But there is still a further problem: I needed to re-calibrate through ecowitt app in order to
have correct datas coming from both soil moisture sensor (I have enclosed a picture of calibration)
And what is strange that at the moment 1st sensor is 40% as result and 2nd sensor 35% as result.
(even if WD shows higher value for second sensor)
What do you think and how to reach final correct value following your steps + calibration ?
Thanks !
Have a nice weekend

I was able to get the second reading by not using the API. I think the issue is the API only gives 1 result for some reason. I also noticed my crongw1000 app was not loading. I did update to the latest, so I will monitor. Thanks!

For calibration, I think this should work.
1. take the sensor out and make sure it is 100% dry. That will be your high number. (higher the number the drier)
2. now put your sensor in some water (not all the way in just enough to read it). That will be your low number. (lower the number the more saturated)
