Internet Explorer 8
« on: February 24, 2010, 11:47:10 PM »
I know support is not through these forums, but I would like feedback from users on the following.

My weatherflash install works fine in firefox, ie6 and 7 but when it comes to ie8 its just "accessing data"
Any pointers? presumable a code change but I am sure others will have come across this before

php5 install

self diagnosed, it was the carriage return in the key file, but I am not sure why it only affected ie8
I wish support was offered by the forum I am sure the lack of published support posts must hinder the progress of the package in terms of its use in weather sites.

Just purchased and experienced same issue -fine with Fire Fox but with IE 8 it seemed to get in endless loop while loading virtual instruments. The carriage return removal did the trick - thanks!

The most difficult thing about all of this is making everything work in every browser and unfortunately, IE anything is a pain in the ass.

If you look at the navigation menus on my site, I had to make it where sub menus overlap using Firefox, Chrome, and IE8 (I don't even bother trying to make IE 6 work) but in IE 7, it looks perfect.

You would think that someone like Microcrap could design a browser that renders things like they're suppose to be.

They are the web developers worst nightmare.

I am having a similar issue in that a graphic will not show in Firefox and it will in IE 8. Have any of you experienced this?

I've actually found Internet Exploder 8 to be pretty decent.

Drac, I am not sure what code you want to see. Is it the index.htm?

If you view my WeatherFlash site in IE and then in Firefox you will see what I mean.

A quick fix is to add a meta tag on any page which you want to render as version 7 or below.

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

I have more trouble with 7 than I do 8. We have 7 at work and I have 8 at home.

Willper,

There is some limitation in Firefox that won't allow it to render the images.  I spoke with Tim about this some time ago.

Are you using compatibility view? I'm not using compatibility view and it works on my IE8 and I see the cam image. In Google Chrome, I don't see the cam image at all. Also, there is a box  to the left of Evapotranspiration that doesn't show in either browser.

Definitive answer: WeatherFlash's graphic image object only works in Internet Explorer. They do not display in any other browser type.

Because the Flash implementation on IE is different from other browsers. Ask Macromedia why not us!

Everything is different on Microcrap products!  Also, Flash is now an Adobe product and no long Macromedia.

The hardest part about creating my site (from scratch BTW) was making everything look the same in all the browsers.
