Fancy Console with Lake Temperature
« on: November 01, 2021, 05:49:29 PM »
Requirements:
A good looking console that displays the lake, indoor and outdoor temperature.
Email freeze alerts
Must be able to connect to lake temperature sensor from 140 feet away.

Ideally:
Shows moon phase, and forecast.
Can connect lightening sensor.
Can be installed with wired sensors.
Would be nice if console was colour and large.

I found this: https://www.amazon.ca/AcuRite-02082M-Temperature-Humidity-Station/dp/B01ACIISF8/ref=sr_1_12?crid=3PM9VZKNYWJ53&dchild=1&keywords=WS-5000&qid=1635800128&s=lawn-garden&sprefix=ws-5000%2Clawngarden%2C78&sr=1-12

Which would have been nice if the liquid probe had not been discontinued. Could have set up a range extender bridge to get reading from the lake.

I also found this: https://ambientweather.com/amws5000.html which would have been good, except that it only shows "sensor 1" on the display, so guests who are looking at the console won't be able to figure out that they are looking at the late temperature.

I might be able to do it with Davis equipment... but brings me way over budget. Something within around the $500 dollar range or less would be perfect... but willing to pay a little more if need be.

Any suggestions?

You can easily do this with a Ambient WS2000/WS5000 or Ecowitt HP2551 console.
What you would want is a  Ambient WH31P or Ecowitt WN30 which is a wired water temp sensor. This is an indoor sensor so the body of sensor would need protecting a IPX rated box but the cable would be fine to place in the lake.
This will then show on your main display and can be changed to show as Lake temp

There is another option for Ecowitt stations WN35 however this value is not displayed on the front console page and so would not meet your criteria.

Fantastic. Thanks for your help. I didn't know that the temperatures could be labelled in the consoles. Great to know I am in the process of purchasing one now. Really excited. Thanks so much for your help in this. Its hard to understand the details of how these things work before receiving a unit.
