Premature naming?
« on: July 22, 2020, 05:06:41 PM »
Is it my imagination (great possibility) or is the NHC naming storms way earlier than they have done in years past.  We are up to the "G's"  already and we have barely had any storms that meet the "tropical storm" level.

Not really.  NHC doesn't name a storm until the measured wind conditions meet the criteria for a Tropical Storm.  It might be that they are doing a lot more aerial recon to get the wind data, but the criteria for assigining a name are pretty solid.
