Title: Sally
Post by: SlowModem on September 16, 2020, 12:09:49 AM
Sally isn't moving much.  I'm reminded of the Little Feat/Robert Palmer song "Sneaking Sally Through The Alley."

Lots going on in the Atlantic and Gulf.  The NHC is earning their money.  One station in Florida reported over 9 inches on Sept 15:

PRECIP RATE
0.47 in/hr
PRECIP TOTAL
9.93 in

Morning Greg!  We’re in a wide band of rain right now. We’ve gotten about 1.5” of rain since yesterday.  Just as I was typing that I got a notification that we just went under a tropical storm warning. It is blustery with gusts in the low 20mph range and from the ENE. South Alabama is gonna get wet. Our location...90 miles north of Fort Walton Beach FL, is predicted to get 4 to 10 inches of slow-moving rain.

Rain has just now increased significantly. More blustery.

My wife's name is Sally.  I would have thought that she would at least made it to Cat 4!  Not much rain here so far, but she will pass over my house around 1 PM EDT tomorrow.

Batten down the hatches down there y'all!  I hope it goes by quickly now and doesn't affect you too much.  We're expecting the remnants tomorrow.  I was going to mow the grass, but I'll wait because it will just grow again.

Over the last 48 hrs I've recorded about 16" .  Nothing to serious for me yet, some limbs down, a few banana trees down and lots of water.  Last night was A LONG night!  The wind was so loud I hardly slept at all.  But thankfully we seem to have avoided any real damage.

howdy Greg!!!  One-handed Ed here!<sigh>

We ended up with probably 8" of rain.  Lots of smaller limbs down in the yard.  We lost power for probably 6-7 hours but that was it...back on now.  A friend is stopping by to pick up a generator to carry to their daughter in Mobile, AL,...no power, many trees down at her place....some on her garage, etc.,.  I haven't traveled over to town to check on business property...maybe this afternoon.   The EMA had closed all the county roads yesterday...just got an alert that they will continue to be closed until they can be evaluated.  Overall, we did good, much better than others.

Sorry I don't know where you're located...along the gulf coast I take it?????  But, last night things somewhat died down around here so I'm confused as to where you are.  :) ??????

I'm glad everyone is OK.  There was some potential for catastrophe.  It went south of us.  Nary a drop.  We're getting some really black clouds, but there's lots of blue sky as well.  Kind of an odd combination.  Take care.  :)

Gotcha.  I know where that is, been through there many times through the years.  I would imagine ya'll got a good soaking when Sally passed by.

You might want to add your location in your profile as it helps put context of location in your comments.  [tup]
Stay safe...
