Tired of Davis Weather Station
« on: January 25, 2023, 06:27:44 PM »
I have had two Davis Vantage Pro 2 stations over the past 12 years.  My current one  is indicating  the datalogger is bad for a second time.  I just tired of paying Davis $225 for a USB Datalogger (cheaper at Scientific but still $170) if they are failing fairly frequently.  Any other stations of close quality would you recommend?

Never ever had a Davis logger fail but then you mentioned the word USB  ](*,) and right there is your problem, won't touch them, unfortunately WLIP were discontinued for political reasons but serial is fool proof  [tup]

My USB has been virtually flawless in the 10+ years I've been posting online, from Win XP to Win 10, and still truckin'.

I agree,  Based on the diagnosis analysis steps that Davis sent tome, the only thin left is a bad datalogger.  I dont necessarily believe that.  I am uninstalling and reinstalling the program to see if that helps.

Where is the logger installed (console/Envoy) ? What is the firmware version? What is the indication that the logger is bad ? Could it be the console/Envoy or for that matter the computer it is plugged into? I am a long time Envoy with serial user with no problems (10 years). I also have an Envoy with USB on my test computer with only one problem thanks to a Windows 10 update. Switching the logger from USB mode to comm mode fixed it. I also have spare consoles one with USB and one with serial for sale here if interested.
