Ecowitt rainfall detected to post to Facebook page
« on: February 11, 2023, 02:42:36 AM »
Hi all!

Is it possible to write a script that can take the ecowitt rainfall detected from the gateway (GW1000/2000) and have it post to a Facebook page?

I am pretty sure that this is possible with IFTTT and Tempest weather station but that is out if my budget at the moment and the ecowitt is a bit cheaper.

I am able to get a raspberry pi if it is required.

Any info is much appreciated as I am still getting my head around API technology

Short reply: yes and no.
yes) If you use meteotemplate you can youse the IFTTT plugin to 'automate things'
no) there's a ( high ) chance that your hosting provider is filtering the traffic on specific ports so this method won't work
yes) if you install meteotemplate locally ( on a pc, a raspberry... )

One way around might be to use the ecowitt app rainfall notification email to set a trigger for IFTTT to action a Facebook group post?

Any thoughts?
