I live in the moutains of north Georgia.  We have called this a temperate rain forest averaging 80-100 inches of rain per year.  About 2 weeks ago i took a lightning strike and damaged about $9000 of ham radio gear.  Fortunately, it was all insured and most of it is repaired and back in place.  Weird things went out, the power cube on the internet wifi, but not the wifi box.  The video cable between the weather computer and the monitor, but both the computer and the monitor were fine.

Night before last Yogi the bear decided to attack my yard fence and took down about 15 feet of it.  He also attacked and ate a bird feeder that's really neat in that it has a camera.  I have been able to reassemble the feeder and its ok.

The next rain system moved in and i have had 10.04 inches of rain in 26 hours.  54 lightning strikes since midnight. The power has been out for about 4 hours.  One cannot live out here in the forest without a generator, so we have been on the generator now for that period of time.

Its an adventrure.

Sounds like Jim is in need of a whole house off grid battery backup solar system.  I live in hurricane prone Florida, and have enough battery to run my home for about 30 hrs with no sun (indefinitely if the sun cooperates ).  But its a real feeling of independence to not have to rely on the grid.

And if that feeder had a camera,  we're going to need pictures or video footage of that Bear to prove it's Authenticity

Seriously,  that would be neat to see.

Glad you shared.

My generator is good for about 8 days on the propane tank.  I have never had to go that long but we had one 4 day outage a few years ago.

Here is the video of the bear.  Its not real good but you see his snout towards the end.

80-100 inches in north Georgia?
I live in North Central Florida. Have 21 years of rainfall data and the highest I ever recorded for one year was just under 68 inches.
