Stabbing the "Report to moderator" link
« on: March 11, 2018, 02:01:09 PM »
This morning we admins received yet another "Report to moderator" message. This one was especially interesting, as the complaint was about a post that was almost a year old, which no one else took exception to, and was merely expressing the poster's opinion about the utility of an on-line service.

Recently, we also got a spate of complaints about another member from one whom we have also received a lot of complaints about.

So many of these come across as passive-aggressive tattle-tale sorts of things. And one of the things we as a group (even admins/mods occasionally) seem to excel at is drifting off-topic or thread-jacking. That's the nature of a forum like this. It's no different than a cocktail party or most meetings I've been to.

Before you stab that  "Report to moderator" link, please stop and ask yourself just what exactly you expect us admins and moderators to do about whatever is honking you off. If you just want to vent about it, vent in the thread (politely), where it might reach the ears of the aggrieving party. Otherwise, walk away, grow a thicker skin, and just don't engage with someone whose irritating you.

Leave the "report" button for those thing that are obvious abuse or spamming, etc, the kind of stuff that only we can handle.

[Bartles & Jaymes mode] And thank you for your support...[/Bartles & Jaymes]
