WMR968 Wind Speed Adjustment

(1/2) > >>

Chummy57C:
Well, I was shocked and disappointed to discover the Ambient Weather support forum disappeared sometime this week.  After repairs and recovery work on my computer due to damage from a storm earlier this summer, I'm getting my WMR 968 weather station operational -- and I know there was information on that forum about what factor the wind speed needs to be adjusted with VWS to produce more accurate wind speed readings on this station.  I recall it was 1.1 but it may have been 1.25.  In other words, if the station is reporting a wind speed of 10, it's actually low and by calibrating with VWS software the correct reading would be 11 to 12.5 mph.

If anyone else has information on this please let me know.  Thank you in advance!

Welcome abaord Chummy!

The value I have seen on the old forum was 1.25... That is what I have mine set to and that seems to be correlating well with other units....

Cool, thanks for the quick reply, Jim!

Please someone elaborate more, I was not aware of this issue.

The OSI WMR968 anemometer ( possibly other models of OSI)  seems to report ~ 25% lower readings than the Davis and other units. By putting a gain factor in the sensor for 1.25 , it brings it closer to the actual readings of others units.....
